getting ready to build and SBR AR. from what i understand I need a form 1. Is there somewhere on the internet that I can get a copy. the ATF website is having problems and is currently not putting some of the form on it. I called the distribution center to have one mailed to me but the lady there couldnt hardly speak english and i doubt that i will recieve one in the mail. Its bad when they think your name is the street you live on. thanks guys |

Pretty much. You can put an upper with a barrel length less that 16" on an AR rifle lower. AR pistols are not allowed to have butt stocks or forward pistol grips. SBRs are allowed. As to the original question. I would try your local gun shop. If they don't have it, I'm sure they can give you the address for the local ATF office to get one. |

JUST an FYI... a lot of people have said you need to specify 1 barrel length on the form. I called ATF yesterday & my dealer/friend called his liason officer as well. We were both told: It is OK to list multiple barrel lengths & calibers. What I/we did was list the intended "original barrel length" in the BBL block on the form, listed all the calibers: .223, 7.62x39, .458, 9mm, .22 in the caliber box. In the "additional description/data box" I listed: Receiver caliber marked "multi" For each of the above listed calibers each of the following accessory barrel lengths will be used: 5.5", 7.5", 9.5", 10.5", 11.5", 14.5" The 2 separate people both told us this is OK & acceptable. This way the form lists all the various combos I MIGHT have and should eliminate any "confusion" should a "less informed" individual examine my paperwork & choose to "hassle" me because my weapon is "not configured as registered". |
