I have a registered SBS, Remington 1100 sidewinder shotgun.
I am trying to get a remchoke installed and no gunsmiths will touch it. They all tell me that the ATF forbids working on the barrel after it has been cut below 18". This barrel is 12" long and I need the choke option to get the gas pressure back up for more reliable functioning. I have a 14" bbl that has been choked and ported and it works great. So my question is does anyone know of a quality gunsmith or business that can legally perform a remchoke installation of some 1100 barrels for me? TIA |
| I use Michael Orlen, of Amherst, Mass. He has done several SBS barrels for me and he does good work at reasonable prices. If you Google his name you will find one of his price sheets with full info on it but simply threading for choke tubes is $55 plus $15 for return shipping. |

Actually, Mr. Orlen was my first try as he came very highly recommended from forum members. Unfortunately he said current laws forbid him from handling it. |

I'll have to call him and see what he says about that. |
