Fuck, I'd say. Nicely done and congrats!

I'm waiting on my SOCOM762-RC-DE to clear a Form 3 so that I can start my wait. Thanks for the tease.

Yeah, like these pics help the wallet.

How'd you attach/secure the tape switches to those locations?

Thanks y'all, appreciate the compliments like always. I'm just glad I had a chance to pick up the cans and give them a quick run before I leave out of state for a while. Gonna miss these babies!

Kelly, you're gonna love the SOCOM. The 7.62 had next to zero perceivable gas blow back compared to the 5.56. Granted, I wasn't mag dumping the heavy like I was the other rifle - but even as rate of fire picked up I couldn't feel anything (other than satisfaction.) That's not to say the 556RC was bad either, only after 4-5 round strings of fire could I begin to feel a bit of gas escaping to sting the eye. I'm not the most knowledgable when it comes to suppressors but from what limited experience and understanding I do have it seems the SCAR/SOCOM combo is better performing than most in that regard.

TurbineGuy, the Surefire pressure pads are simply held on by the thin 3M adhesive velcro strips that come with most of their products. I had to trim off the rail grabber portion of the SR switch, but that was it really. So far, so good. No issues with it coming off unintentionally. The Tango Down rail panel on the 9 o'clock helps to secure it in position as well.

I have been involved in firearms for most of the past 40 years, and these are perhaps the sexiest examples of gun porn I have seen.  Thanks for sharing!

Can you give me some information on your paint job?  Did you start with black or FDE SCAR's?
Link Posted: 5/16/2014 10:34:24 PM EDT
[#28]
Those two started as FDE, or rather seven different shades of it. And I have to laugh, my inbox and email have been flooded with PM's all asking the same questions about the paint - including one guy offering to pay me if I'd do the same to his. Sorry, but I'm not a professional and there's no reason anyone can't do this themselves: Grab some camo Krylon, a few branches, or in my case a some cheap mesh laundry bags to create the pattern, and just go to town with it. Don't forget to tape off the things you don't want painted and read up in the Refinishing section for some much better guidance than I'll ever be able to provide. Try not to overthink or concern yourself with how it looks while paining. Simply have fun with it and you'll be much better satisfied with the results.

I recently picked up this ACOG TA11H and although I have yet to shoot it, it seems to be ideal for the SCAR-H CQC...

What are those front side rails you have? They look to have 2 qd mounts on either end.
