How do you remove the muzzle break.  On my 17s, there's the two flats on the muzzle break and then there's something that looks like a locknut behind the muzzle break.  Do I need to unscrew both or just the break?

thanks

Midway. Very prompt delivery. I was surprised.

It is on pretty hard, but it just screws off. I did not have to loosen the lock nut. I used an AR15 armorers tool, but then I saw photos of guys just jabbing screw drivers between the prongs and doing it, and I think that is an easier way!

Mine came off really easy:

Clear weapon
Insert an empty mag
Place rifle on a padded chair with the end of the barrel sticking out
Place another pad or towel on top of the wpn
Elicit help from the wife
Have wife gently sit (not the full weight––make sure to tell her she's not overweight...) on the wpn to provide just enough pressure to prevent it from moving
Use correct size wrenches or crescent wrenches for the washer and one for the comp (apply masking tape if             you don't want to scratch the finishing)
Simultaneously turn (more like a quick gentle snap) the wrenches in opposite direction (counter clockwise / left/loose for the comp)...comes right off.

Mine did not have any oil or locktite from the factory; it was dry and clean.  I took mine off after about 200rds fired.

Replaced it with the AAC T51 w/MITER.  Had to apply two tiny drops of Rockset because without it, the FH came loose after about 20 rds.  It's fully secured now, over 300rd so far without any signs movement.  Shoots great, too.

Surefire MB762SSAL/RE Muzzle Brake/Adapter

You have to turn down the outside diameter of the lock nut that came with the barrel to a thousandth or two less than the inside diameter of the sleeve portion of the muzzle device but it is as or more effective than the factory PWS muzzle brake.

Do you have to re-use the barel nut/washer with the AAC or not?

Per instruction, no factory barrel nut, peel or crush washer, just mount the AAC and torque it (I did mine by feel).  The AAC will come with a tiny plastic bag of Rocksett.  I applied only two tiny drops on the rear end of the threads (opposite end of the front end of the barrel).

Instruction said to use 2-3 drops.  I don't plan to mount a suppressor so I only used two tiny drops.  It shoots awesome and I'm getting excellent accuracy.

I've read that Rocksett is water-soluble.  To remove the device with Rocksett, just dip the AAC/front of barrel in boiling water for a few minutes...turn the wrench...it should come loose.

As mentioned, do not use the original barrel retaining nut.  However, be aware that on a SCAR 17 if you do not use the MITER mount and opt for the standard Blackout (either 51T or 18T), you will not get full coverage through to the thread shoulder of the barrel.  It will stop short when it bottoms out at the muzzle face.  Not a problem...a cosmetic issue only.
