Back story: I bought my 522 about a month and a half ago, and was only able to take it out once to give it a good test run. I was pretty disappointed, as I had quite a few FTFs, all on Federal bulk ammo. I estimated maybe 1/4-1/3rd of all rounds tried (a couple hundred). CCI minimags did somewhat better. Needless to say, I was bummed.

So, I contacted Sig, explained the problem, and asked if they could just send me a new firing pin- assuming that was the problem. They said I had to send it back so they could diagnose the problem, and they immediately emailed me a UPS overnight packing label. The rep's name was Chris- very helpful and courteous. Anyway, so I box it up and send it back to Sig. That was two weeks ago, and I just got it back today.

Bolted my Vortex Strikefire back on it, grabbed a bunch of ammo, and went out to the boonies to give it another try...

Totally different experience. They replaced several of the bolt-related parts, as well as the spring guides and buffer, installing un-tapered guide rods which apparently address the e-Clip issue. Anyway, I didn't have a ton of time, but I shot 400+ rounds of various Fed Bulk, Remington Golden, crappy Winchester Wildcat, and some CCI minimags. Not a single hiccup a all- the 522 eats it all. Flawless and dead accurate! Didn't even have to rezero the Vortex either: just re-attached and started blowing through magazines.

This is an insanely fun little .22!

Cool. They are very Fun. Over 4000 rds on my 522 in the past 2 months. Lots of fun. I am plesently surprised at how well it works. Over the years I have had several 10/22's (nice rifle) but other than factory 10rd mags. The large cap. mags do not work that well. I must admit I was not a big .22 fan. But my 522 is changeing that.

Glad to hear Sig was so good about fixing your rifle!

I absolutely love mine, it's one of the newer models and its eaten everything I put through it.
Only about a half dozen FTF during it's break in period but I think they were just weak primers or something because the cases had a dent and they fired if I loaded them again.
Just about 1500 rounds through mine now and It runs like a top clean or dirty.

A very satisfied first time Sig owner here!

Glad to hear they fixed it. Mine had very very few FTF's within the first 100 rounds, but now has developed a NASTY FTF habit and the cases it does very off have a VERY light mark on them from the FP. I thought maybe some gunk or grease had gotten in the FP channel, but I sprayed everything down, let it dry, and tried again...same story. Almost looks like the rear of the FP does not protrude out rearward enough to be pushed foward enough to really smack the rim.

Call to sig, here we go.
