Hey guys,

Don't know much about these rifles so I have a few questions. I'm a fan of the G36 and was wondering how to go about getting one. Am I right in assuming that the SL8 is the civi version of the G36? What caliber is it available in? How much does it cost? Are pre-ban high cap mags available? DO AR mags fit into it?

Just want some info.

Thanks!!

hkpro.com is probably the place to go for questions like this

the SL8 is the nuetered G36, it has its own proprietary mags, only in .223.

after about $2000 in modifications you can use AR mags and a funky folding stock

Pick your type.

Theres 2 new conversion blocks going on:

One plastic that is non modification, and has a little bit better LOP than the first gen ones.

non mod SL8 conversion block

The other is the Tbostic Gen 3 block. You cut off the rear section of your reciever (leaving the metal inserts alone) and you put this one on, and plastic resign it to the recicver. WARNING this one requires that you SBR your rifle on a form 1 in order for you to move the serial number!!! (you will have to mark serial number and you as the manufacturer etc....) and after you SBR it, if you want i think you can remove it from NFA registry as long as it has enough US parts and barrel length etc... Not an easy mod, but if done right, its impossible to notice the difference of the stock from the outside.

Mod required SL8 conversion block

Pretty neat stuff... The next step, hopefully will be a US made reciever. A bit more pricey, but i think its worth it.
