STG or AR?
What is your go-to rifle? |
|
Neither, the Remy sits just out of view in the middle of my apt loaded 8+1 at all times.
Also have a couple loaded handguns here and there... And there are some loaded AR mags sitting next to the AR-accepting rifles in a "battle belt" just in case... But for zombies and the Obacalypse? TPD AXR! |

To start off with, it didn't like .223. I've never had a problem with 5.56 though. It has maybe 1500 rounds through it now.
These rifles are designed to shoot 5.56, and a gas piston platform is more sensitive to ammo. I've had the same thought, but I plan to keep the AXR forever. Didn't buy it as an investment piece and I'm not going to treat it like one! |

AR for me. My current AR is proven reliable over 3200 rounds. The STG-556 I've only put 108 rounds through.
I also like the ergos of the AR better. Over time who knows, I might like the STG better... Only time and use with a reliable track record, coupled with muscle memory will change my mind. What I'm wanting though is to turn the STG into a compact 6.8 for deer hunting. That would give it a real use for me. |
