How does the muzzle blast for a 16" STG compare to a 16" AR?
Same question for a 20" STG vs a 20" AR? |

I was really surprised by the blast from the MSAR––but then again, you are much closer to that end of the rifle than if you had an AR. You can feel the concussion in you chest too, kind of cool, but I wonder what it would be like in hallway if you had to pop someone, your ears are going to really ring after that blast. |

This is what I've been wondering too. Would this rifle benefit having a muzzle device that directs the blast downrange like the Noveske KX3? KX3 thread |

shooting my 16" Ar, and my buddy's msar side by side, i noticed a tiny bit of difference in the physical blast... nothing that made me remotely uncomfortable... we were shooting the same ammo, so it was most likely the gun differences.
I'd assume, as others have said, that it was just a product of being closer to the muzzle with a bullpup. |

I don't notice any difference at all between an AR-15 and my STG in terms of muzzle blast. FWIW I always wear earplugs when shooting. +1 Me too. Muffs get in my way getting down on the stock of either one. Moon Yea, Muffs for me on the STG is a huge no go. The AR is no problem for me with muffs. |

I use my Peltor COMTAC II's with my STG all the time.
Firing anything in a hallway of a home is going to ring your bell in SHTF, but your adrenalin will be pumping pretty hard to compensate if you're going loud on a home intruder. That's why suppressors are nice if you live in a Free State. |
