I know nothing about this weapon. Does it have a history of problems? LMK

SW5's are reportadly very hit or miss.

If you have problems, Jayson at Investment Grade Firearms could make it right. He does SW5 work.

As a '99, it will be a cast receiver, not an exact replica of the mp5/94 receiver.  The later SW receivers are stamped (and are almost exact copies).

I've got both a SW3 (the hk91 clone) and SW5-FS (hk94 w/fake surpressor & stamped receiver)..  no problems.  You'll have to break it in with more than a handfull of preferably hot +p or +p+ rounds to loosen it up.

I don't know the exacts of the "A" model you're referring to though.  Some early models required some tweaking (usually extractor changes), but Todd generally will square it up.  Jayson at IGF is really good if you want an independent armorer to fix anything wrong with the gun.

I ran the serial# and it said it was made in 05/01.Rec is stamped. Does it make a difference. LMK

you should be good.  Buy a truckload of +P rounds for breakin.  I used the cheapest +P rounds I could get, SPEERs from ammoman - the are +P JHPs.  Be prepared to manually extract as the gun loosens up, but after the first 100-200 +Ps, it should be unstuck.

I am too deep into the AR thing to start another hobby. These things are a whole different world.

Hey I decided to give it a whack. The HK thing is addicting. Just couldn't let the poor thing go. I need some mags now. To market I go!

I think you're hk'dicted.  Pretty soon you'll buy a sear, and then pickup a few more HK variants (for 223, 308, 45acp, 762x39....)

for mags, check out pof-usa

their mags are hk contract, and work really well, I've got 4 of them besides my 4 hk and they all work great.

I second Jayson.  He built my SW5 and it runs like a charm.  Over 3000 rounds without a hitch.  My buddy melted the SD type shroud and I had to remove it.
