Does anyone have any experience with this holster? I found a decent deal on OpticsPlanet for this holster, a concealment magazine pouch and GALCO instructors belt. The order has already shipped, but I was wondering if anyone else had this holster and how they liked it. I got it because I wanted a decent paddle style holster to put on when taking the dogs out at night and sometimes wear during my part-time job at the range.

Update
okay, after wearing this new rig for about a week I like it, it's comfortable. But, the holster is NOT concealable with what I normally wear, jeans, untucked polo shirt, etc... It did work great as a comfortable holster to wear while I worked at the range. The holster and mag pouch paddles were extremely tight when I first tried them, now they go on and come off as easily as my Blade Tech stuff. As a quick comparaison, my Blade Tech paddle holster for my 19 rides closer to the body than the Safariland does. I found myself going back to my MTAC as a concealment holster.

The Galco Instructors belt is quite nice, a LOT better than my Uncle Mikes version. I think the size I chose will end up being a little large if I drop about 10 lbs. (50 is my goal, but thats for another thread and subforum later.)

I've had 2 for about 5 years.  1 Glock 19, 1 Glock 17 sized, both for about $30.  During the winter for the last 4 years I used one or the other 4-5 days a week.  My Glock 19 sized has developed a small tear in the paddle due to me running into something and really torquing the holster/paddle connection and I can still use it.  Getting ready to purchase another.  You do have to draw correctly and if you are not at the correct angle it will stay in place.  I do like how tight it is to the body, easily a 1/2 inch closer than a Black Hawk Serpa with paddle.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I strongly dislike mine...actually, I freaking hate it. It's in the bottom of my kit bag currently serving duty as a backup holster for a G34 w/ M3 light.

Like DragonRider, mine will not budge out of the holster unless the pistol is gripped in the proper manner/angle - which seems inconsistent. It did get a little better after I sprayed silicon spray as Safariland prescribes. Unlike DragonRider, I find mine could actually be closer into the body - its a BIG frickin' holster and not very concealable if you ask me.

With the above said, it is a well-built holster and great for range use....but I am 100x happier with my FDE 6378 I ordered to replace it.

Thanks for the info. I should have it by Saturday so I'll post a small review after wearing it a few days.

I have one in the standard kydex outer finish for my glocks.  I cut the outside down to be more like a 5182/3, but left the inside so my gun didn't rub against my body.  For me, it seems to have made the draw a lot easier, but hasn't inhibited retention.

I picked mine up a few years ago when Safariland blew them out on their site for ~$10-15.

I was issued one years ago for undercover duty carry. Never liked it and disliked it even more when I had stop chasing someone and pick up my gun after jumping a fence...

I switched to a 6378 with the ALS lock. Just as fast to draw and have never looked back at a holster without some kind of retention (besides a tension screw)

Wow, that sucks.  I hope I have better luck with mine.

OP...I stand corrected. I do not have the 5181, the one I have and dislike is the 5188. If the 5181 is like the 5188, my opinion stands.

They look similar, but made of different material. I'll wear it a week or so then reply back with an update in the op. I'll include the rest of the gear in the review as well.
