I am looking at this safe, it's about 4' high by 3' wide and around 30" deep.

I am not looking for fire protection, just something to prevent someone from doing a smash and grab. Any reason this safe wouldn't work for my gun stuff? Has anyone ever done any rebuilds of the inside of an old industrial safe? Maybe add some shelving, etc.?

Can you cut those wheels off and bolt the sucker to the floor? That would be the only issue I see. Criminals will roll that right out of your house and into a waiting truck if it is not bolted down.

Possibly, I am going to look at it tomorrow and will check that out. If the wheels are not removable I may just pour a concrete lip around the base of the safe so it can be wheeled out of place.

I swear I remember a thread where someone refurbed an old safe but cannot find it, anyone know what I'm talking about?

If you are able to pour a concrete lip why stop there? If you are in a place where you plan on staying for a long time just set the safe in the middle of a form & pour concrete to the bottom of the safe, submerging the wheels in concrete anchoring the safe at the same time.

I will be moving the safe within the year to a more permanent location.

Here's what  you need to turn that box into a gun safe:

BTW, I ripped out the dividers in my gun safe and use these. They work great.
