| I'm going to be buying a SHTF 50 upper in the next month or so. Looking at getting the 29" barrel, and I plan to put a NightForce 5.5-22x56 scope on it. So, my question is, which rail would everyone recommend getting? I hope to be able to drag it somewhere and shoot at 1000-1500 yards, but for the most part it would be a range toy and would be used at 500 and under. Really, I'm curios about what other people have and how well it worked, and whether I need the the 20 moa base, or just the standard.....and if the XACTO rails really adds anything. Also, what bipods are a good fit for the 50bmg uppers. Thanks for the input! |
| hi i have a sh 50 with a 29" tube, i got the low rail and a millet 35mm lrs1 one big fucking scope. the scope came with way to high rings had to order the med rings. even with a magpull prs stock the scope is high..smiley the bipod is a cheap rip off of a harris but is holding up for now.. the millet has 140 mils of ageist [sp] so 20 mil rails are not needed... |
| So I'm looking at buying the SHF50 upper with the standard low scope rail. I'm going to put a Nightforce 5.5-22x56 on it in a Larue LT107....so I'm trying to figure out if the scope will have enough clearance, or if I need to go with the high scope rail. Anyone have a setup like this, or have any recommendations to see if it will fit? I'm currently deployed to Okinawa, so picking up a phone isn't really an option. |

I have the exact rifle you are looking at, and with the low rail, and the larue .50 QD mount, i have plenty of clearance on my 60mm optic. Safety harbor makes a bipod for your rifle that works well. I would also recomend buying their carry handle (you will thank me latter for this recommendation, makes the gun much more portable)
You will like this rifle, Safety Harbor makes a good product. |

I'll let you know when it gets here. Also, better get settled in for at least a 3 month wait. The Email I got from them.. "we're running around like headless chickens at the moment." My order just now shipped and it was placed back at the end of October. Sweet, that would be awesome. And the wait isn't going to be a problem for me, I'm currently deployed, and ordered it early on so I wouldn't have to sit at home and wait for it to arrive! |
| I purchased and setup a 24inch magfed rifle over last summer and love it. I purchased a magpul PRS (I think that is what it is call I get their TRS PRS DRS MRS PMS all confused) and a Super Sniper 16x mil/mil scope. The scope has a ton of MOA adjustment but I also added a 30 moa rail in case I find a need to shoot over a mile. The thing zeroed great and from what I understand the shooter app on my phone will do quite a good jop. I am currently using a generic harris bipod which seems to be holding up great. This is not supprising since the recoil is very very manageable. Sometimes I wish I had the 29 inch but I would probably still do the 24 again if I could only have one fifty. I would really like to get my hands on a big lathe so I can pay the $200 for a form 1 can. There are several places I could safely shoot along some power lines but I am sure it would attract some attention. If you have any specific questions about mine feel free to ask. |

Are the bipod leg lengths adjustable, or are they a set length? Thanks for the info!
