So the manager of this fine business happens to be a fellow by the name of Imi. I have been dealing with him mostly because I cannot stand the gal who answers the phone because she is beyond weird.

Anyhow, I ordered my second lot of the UK manufacturer .303 British ammo packaged 360 rounds to a case loaded on stripper clips. The first case arrived and it had a UK head stamp and dated 1937.

Well, my second case showed up yesterday and I opened the wooden case with UK marking on it all to find out the ammo packaged inside was a POF pakastani head stamp. What do you guys make of this?

There is no way the ammo was in their originally because the wooden case is UK and around the late 30's just like the other case I had bought, but the POF ammo inside was dated 1962. I think someone had to of taken out the original ammo and put POF in its place, JMHO.

What do you guys make of this? Is Samco trying to get over on folks, or is this just a simple mistake?

Samco is honest.........at least all my dealings with them have been.  POF stands for Pakastini Ordnance Factory (pardon my spelling) which was built per the brits and the ammo was made on british tooling so technically it's british.  Anyone else with more info on POF ammo?

Samco has always been great to deal with for me.

That's what I was originally thinking, too, but this is interesting:

POF entry at Wikipedia

POF est. 1951 (Pakistan declared independence in 1947)

So apparently built per the Pakis, not the Brits, but almost assuredly built with Brit tooling.

They also have a website:

http://www.pof.gov.pk/

Maybe there's more info there.

I am not prepared to call them dishonest, but they are 50/50 on the  2 orders I placed.

First order, (SKS) came in fine.
Second got shipped back as FAR lower than the advertised grade and the stock was not the Walnut (K-31) I paid extra for.

Oh and you are right about the phone monkey being terrible.  I can't even understand her through the accent.

It might be built using brit tooling, but they were selling the lot I purchased as Brit manufactered and not Pakastani. Imi has been more than willing to take it back and give me another lot. I just found it to be interesting that this 62 dated Pakastani ammo ended up in a late 30's UK crate

Without a doubt thats fucked up.  I was just explaining what POF is and you should call them on it.  FWIW, I purchased a beautiful Swedish Mauser from them five years ago and it was as described.

This is at least my tenth transaction with them. Each one has been an experience in its own. They have done me right every time, but I just couldn't believe my eyes because someone had to switch the ammo out at some point.

I wouldn't be suprised if ALL of the .303 Samco sells is coming out of Pakistan, whether
British or not, it was most likely stored in Paki arsenals left over from the empire days.

That would also explain why POF is in UK crates and marked all different ways, they used what was available and already laying around empty.

As an aside, the POF shoots better than the UK made old stuff anyway. Improper storage of that ammo has all but ruined it. I will never buy another case of the 30's-40's UK.

You say its ruined how? I have shot some without seeing any differences between the two except that the POF hang fires all the time.

Patriotic Ordnance Factory is in PHX.  I don't know the relationship they once had with Pakistan Ord Fac. if any.

I have seen the opposite From 2 cases of UK 1940's has been 20% duds, 75% hang fires, and 5% awesome.

POF shoots great with about 5% hang fires.

YMMV
