I have a Spectre II on order. I want to get my Savage MkII cut and threaded from 20in down to 16in. My main concern is, will I lose accuracy? Any help is appreciated, thanks. http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/uu24/TheHiddenMan/Mobile%20Uploads/received_869773329775912_zpsxp5prkot.jpeg Cross posted in rimfire section. So long as the gunsmith you choose to cut/thread doesn't mess the crown up, there should be no degradation of accuracy. The Savage Mark II FV-SR comes with a threaded 16.5" bull barrel from the factory. People rave about its accuracy with even rack grade plinking ammo, and I don't see a company as accuracy minded as Savage turning out barrels that are sub-optimally accurate for compactness. Do a google search for above gun and read what peoples reports are. Heck, half the precision .22s in the .22 precision rifle section photo thread are savage suppressor ready rifles. I'd get it done yesterday |

Good to hear. What do I tell the Smith when in get it cut? Like the threading specs? Most popular threading specs I see reading around various forums is SiCo spec 1/2x28 threads. There is only .400 of threads in Silencercos thread specs and is thought of in the community as being the most accurate and the threads aren't too long letting the barrel "stick too far into" the suppressor mounted all the way on with the muzzle dangerously close to the blast baffle. Theres people that know the CNC game better than I and can explain it as such, but thats the gist. most places like ADCO and Ranier who thread barrels for a living most likely know what "SIlencerco thread specs" are and can take care of you accordingly. There is currently a thread on a Savage FV-SR and its' threading right now in the suppressor section that can give you some insight |
