I got a tip from my son in law that his uncle was going to take his guns to a buy-back and said I should have a look. (He has no interest)
After a phone call, II met him at his home and bought everything he had plus his reloading equipment and supplies, he insisted that we transfer all the guns through an FFL which I was happy to do and pay for. I gave him $1200.00 for the lot. Rem. 870 30" bbl Argentine Mauser W/ bayonet H&R Garand (faint proofs) Savage 99 .303 Reising M 65 w/extra mag Browning HP 35 British proofs S&W m 10 w/ box, papers Ruger Single Six 3-screw w/ box, papers ( couldn't find the mag cylinder but said if did he'd mail it to me) Ruger .41 mag 3-screw w/ box , papers He asked if I really wanted it because you couldn't get ammo for it. (?!) Apparently, a week later, my daughter mentioned something to his evil shrew of a wife about me buying the guns and she went ballistic as she was the reason he was turning in the guns and that she wanted them DESTROYED! She even threatened me w/ lawyer, police. I called him later to say sorry for the trouble and he just chuckled. |

If she has him selling his guns to a buyback, he's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy past the ejection point.
Let her call a lawyer, police, FBI, the National Guard, whatever floats her boat. Everything you own I assume is legal in Cali? If it wasn't I'm sure the FFL wouldn't have do the transfer to you. So, who gives a flying fuck if she calls someone. Let 'em come and snoop all they want, and if she calls a lawyer, it's just a prime example of a fool and their money parting. |

I 'saved' a Winchester 94 .30-30 and 1200 12ga. from a garage sale for $160 for the pair about 12 years ago. I traded the 94 and some cash for my first Sig 220. Best trade I ever made as I love the 220 and have gone through a dozen since.
I also 'saved' a Century AR-15A1 (used Colt kit with a welded on muzzle break on a Century marked receiver), Norinco Uzi and Maadi AK for $900 back in 1998 from a guy that moved to Hawai'i with his sister and bro in law. He got in a fight with the bro in law and I gave him enough for a ticket back to NY. It was an expensive ticket as he didn't want to wait around. I was 22 and $900 was all I had to my name. Luckily I found a guy that wanted the AR and he gave me $800 for it, which allowed me to make my truck payment and rent. But don't be fooled. Those deals only make up for the bad deals I have gotten. Like the buddy I lent a 9mm Makarov to during the Y2K scare and his drugged out wife later pawned it. Needless to say, he ain't a friend anymore and I learned a $140 lesson in lending things to friends. Or TNVC mini red dot that I bought used and broke on the first magazine. Or the single shot HK-91 clone I bought from Federal Arms right before they went out of business. |
