I'm looking to build a sbr but my cleo won't sign off. Has anyone used nfalawyers.com to get a gun trust?

Go with a trust.

Go to the Amory section and go to Short Barrel Rifle section and look through the stickies.

IMO Trust is the easiest route.

I'm int he same boat with you.  I have made initial contact with them and it was favorable. I like the fact they are multigenerational. I just have concerns that it may not meet the letter of the law in my State. When I get home from my business travels late next week I am going to make some more inquiries.

I also would like to hear some comments.

First, the above information is spot on.  My CLEO (in the past) refused to sign off on both SBRs and suppressors for purely political reasons, so when I built my SBR, I went with a trust.  My first stamp took about 7 months.  I'm expecting my next one in about 3-4 weeks from now, for a turn around time of 7-8 weeks.  That's because I filed for the stamp online with ATF's eForms.  You can ONLY do that with a trust or corporation, which makes the trust a much nicer option, even if your CLEO is NFA-friendly.

Not only is the SBR forum a great source of information, the Legal subforum under Class 3 is also very useful.

I went with nfalawyers.com and they were amazing! Had my trust back to me in less than 24 hours. They even gave me a call to answer a few questions I had. When you're ready to do the online application, make sure to fill in the Licensee name as your trust, NOT your name! I ended up submitting incorrectly the first time and had to cancel and resubmit. Big pain in the ass, caused by me! Search "how to fill out an eForm 1" as this will save you some headache!

Thanks for the link and reply. I frequent that part of the site quite a bit. All ready plan on trust, I was looking for reviews of specific vendor.

I used them for my trust. Very fast customer service. Ordered late Friday got it to me on Sunday!

Answered all the questions I had and sent with simple instructions on how to file.

Trust was 9 pages with a schedule A, so it was very easy to scan the entire thing into one .pdf for eforms.

Guarantees it will be approved and mine was.

All in all I'm happy.

IMO, it was maybe over priced by about $25. Should be closer to $100 to compete with the other online trusts. But I guess he gives the added benefit of answering all questions, don't know if the others do that.

Does a bank account need to be opened in the name of the gun trust? If so, would my sbr need to be purchased from the gun trust account or could I use my personal account?

Does the trust have to have some kind of holding like a coin or something tangible?

No. That is not necessary in Florida,  it may be the case in your state. It is best to contact Dean and have him answer any questions you may have. He has been great at answering emails and I have sent a few!

Yes. I've used that trust for 2 SBRs and one can. It amazed me that a buddy of mine bought a $499 trust at a local gun show and I paid $125 for mine. I think there's also some cheaper ones out there but I wanted to go with a site sponsor.

I did open a checking account for my trust, In retrospect it was completely un-necessary. The ATF cares not where the money originates.
