I was checking out www.armlist.com to see if there were any good prices on AR-50s and ran across this ad. I had to crack a smile for the contradictions in it. http://www.armslist.com/posts/4712693/tennessee-rifles-for-sale--armalite-ar10-rifle----barrett-82a1-50-bmg-

The pictures are of one Barrett in the box and the other two pictures are of I think an AR-15. I flagged it as a scam but I don't think the seller is going to get any action. |

Man, I almost got scammed when I was looking for mine. It was a Barrett m99 for <2500, don't recall the exact amount but it was a good deal that didn't seem too good to be true.
Seller provided quick responses in proper English and everything. I asked for specific pictures which he provided fairly promptly. I still had a weird feeling and stated such. Seller then sent over a copy of "his" driver's license. I felt like I was being too paranoid and was about to send the funds when I decided to take one last measure. I performed a reverse google image search and found all the pics he had used from other sale ads. So I sent a not so pleasant email and reported him. I no longer use armslist. |

My best friend was a user of Armslist and he caught and reported quite a few scams that were quite real looking. However he did get taken on a handgun for quite a bit of money but was able to get his money back because he always used postal money orders. Running a scam and getting paid with a postal money order I guess makes it a felony and the perpetrator got spooked and sent his money order back to him. I think most crooks would not be scared enough to send the check back but since he did he didn't get charged. Man I hate a thief.
