Is this the correct scope mount for a PTR91? BT212621 HK MP5, HK93/33/G3/SP89 Universal Mount, Swiss manufacture by Brugger & Thomet Thanks |
| These two that DSA sells for Brugger & Thomet are. I have the one without the side rails and love it. |
If the PTR receiver is to G3 specs, yes. That is the short mount and is more than adequate for most needs. The other mount MLM refers to is the long mount. It’s too long for the wide forearm to be used unless you cut out a portion. It’s fine if you have the skinny forearm. Negatives are weight, another place for brass to get caught up on (unlikely, but still a risk), and that mounting a scope that far forward will likely interfere with the charging handle. Even the short mount runs into that last problem with some scopes and eye reliefs. |
I don't think so. The mount I have linked has nothing to do with using the wide or skinny forarm. It can be used with both. I don;t understand how you would think it would interfere with the forarm. Its a scope mount. Nothing to do with the forarm. |

I know so ![]() I bought the long mount for an HK91 and then found out I can't use it with the wide forearm unless I cut it. I don't want to do that to an original forearm so am using the short mount and it works fine. I really wanted to use the long mount at the time so I looked around for a spare black wide forearm to modify, but they had dried up by then. If one turns up I still might do the mod, but there is really no reason to unless I want a red dot mounted way out there, which I might some day. |
We must be talking about 2 different things. I have mine right here with a wide forarm on it. Ican't even begin to understand what you are talking about with the forarm interfereing with the mount. Here is a link to a pic of a member's rifle with the wide forarm and lo and behold the B&T mount. Please tell me how the interfere. |
That's the short mount. |
I would not waste my money on a cheap copy. You will only end spending more in the end. Look around for a used one if you can not afford a new one. |

+1 on the B&T mount. Solid as a rock and very low profile. It does not take up a lot of room on the rifle and comes in two sizes for different needs. I have the Universal variant and find it to be exactly want I wanted. I have put and Eotech on it, 10X scope and now it has another red dot type site on it. Like most things you get what you pay for. I was tempted by some of the cheaper models but TAPCO was out for personal reasons and some of the others looked like they were made for or by AIRSOFT rifles. There is one for sale at Florida Gun Works but for just a little extra I took the known quantity and the SWISS reputation and got the B&T. YMMV. I was also confused about which one to buy at first and I also did not want to use the skinny forearm and I most definately did not want to cut my wide forearm down so I went with the smaller one. I figured if I didnt like it on the JLD I could put it on my HK94 or Hk93. |
