Is it worth scoping? What are your thoughts. I need to do something about the iron sites. If you would scope, would you go with a traditional scope or something like an Eotech? Post pics if you would like. |
| I was thinking about more of a traditional scope with adjustable objective or should I stick with more of a red dot type? I don't know if the FAL has enough reasonable precision for big glass. I'm not expecting it to be a tack driver, but actually being able to see a target at 300 yards would be nice. |

Amount of glass to use just depends on your eyes. ATN has a pretty nice scope for less than $300. http://www.atncorp.com/DayOptics/RifleScopes/ATN2-6X40LU Has BDC and range "assisting" reticle. 30mm tube, comes with rings. I don't have one, just did some shopping. S |

My Tapco early weaver cover took fussing to get on and truly straight, but has been loktite fine since. Since the 308 back and big bolt carrier fwd eat cheap scopes, I use a Hensoldt 4x24 on an ARMS stanag/weaver adaptor and it lines up great. 100m increment bullet drop elevation cam, German milspec tough glass, only $150ish after parting the claw mount, add $50 for the ARMS bit, super value. |
You might look at the Bushnell 3200 Elite. Good scope for the money and you can charge the luminous reticle with a flashlight for low light conditions. I have one on an AR I'm going to move to a bolt gun when I can get an Eotech. ETA- mine is the 10x40 fixed, but there are a number of variable scopes in the line. |
I am sorry. I thought I was in the HK forum. DSA makes a nice one here. |
|
I have an Elcan on one and an ACOG Reflex on the other. Am happy with both. As far as mounts, my DSA mount gives me a much warmer and fuzzier feeling than does the ARMS. The latter is built nice, but the design is second rate (and mine does not fit an Imbel receiver very well). |
I have one and it no longer works. The plates that press against the receiver lost their tension after about 5 months. I had only fired the rifle 2 times for a total of maybe 100 rounds with it mounted. It also gets chewed up easily by brass. I know alot of people on the falfiles had similar problems. Also the mount is not made by arms its made by mounts plus under contract. To their credit they did offer to replace the mount for free though their explanation of why it stopped working was silly. |

I purchased a DSA mount. It is everything everyone said it would be. As a temporary measure I have a Leupold 4-12 AO sitting on the mount. I won't have the opportunity to shoot it until this coming weekend. If it shoots well I may just leave that scope on it. The advice to purchase the DSA mount was a good one. I can't describe how fantastic the quality is. Not worth saving $20 to goto a different mount. |
| I've got a 4x russian scope mounted on my accurate FAL and an Aimpoint mounted on my 18" social carbine. I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of the FAL i had put the scope on just to see what it would do, so i just left it on. I used Tapco mounts of differing generations on both with no complaints. |
+1 I'm using just that on mine right now. Standard duplex recticle and Warne rings. When I do my job it will shoot about 1.4 - 1.7" from my bipod. Mine is a 3x9x40. |
so are you using a STG type barrel mounted bipod or an aftermarket. If the former and presuming you are talking about 5 shot 100 yard groups that's outstanding! |
