If I'm blessed enough to gather the funds for an M1A of my very own anytime soon, I plan on getting a standard because I want the chrome lined barrel, but I want to play around with the scout mounting.

Is this mount available seperately? If so where and how much money?

And I want this stock!

Yes, you can get the Scout scope mount separately from Springfield Armory for $112.00. http://www.springfield-armory.com/shop/

The Scout mount will fit on the Bush, Scout, USGI or light weight contour NM barrels.

I've got one on my standard Poly Tech. I found the S.A. Inc. Scout mount, black synthetic stock, handguard and Scout compensator for $175.00 in the EE several months ago. I've got it set up with a red dot for steel plate shoots. I'm working on making an adjustable comb on a synthetic G.I. stock. The Scout mount raises the check weld and I find it uncomfortable and difficult to get a consistant weld for quick shots.

As you can see, opinions vary greatly on the Scout mount.  Sukebe bought my complete furnature and mount set, which I couldn't wait to get off my Scout and make it into a Bush model.

We'll probably be shooting our rifles against each other later this month.
