I have the opportunity to buy the following new Springfield Armory scope for $540 delivered. 4-14x56 A/O, 30mm, Target Knobs, 3rd Generation Illuminated Government .308 Reticle I would use it on a Springfield Armory M1A or on an FN Special Police Rifle. What do you think? Please respond in detail. Thank you, Regards, FRIZ |

FRIZ, what's up!!! how was Thunder Ranch? when you get a chance type up a review. as far as the gen III it sounds like a good price. you will be hapy with the scope and if your not springfield will fix it. be sure when you get it to "shoot a 10" box" and shoot groups at minimum and maximum powers to check your zero. i have a gen ii and a gen iii. they are both great scopes but if you have about 1200.00 i would say go with a Night Force. they are the same size but have better light transmission. |

There was a discussion a few weeks ago where several people chimmed in, you might want to take a look at it : www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=112143 FWIW, $540 is a good price. I paid about the same for a reconditioned one from SWFA. |
| Good price... I have the same scope. My knob for the reticle became loose and almost fell off after about 40 rounds (over about a year) SA repaired it and sent it back to me. They did a poor job of boresighting it after they repaired it but otherwise it is a good scope. The 56mm lens is huge (almost too cumbersome sometimes) but I like it. |

| I have the scope that you are talking about mounted on my Reminton 700 PSS. I have really enjoyed using it. I purchased mine for $660 from SWFA about 3 years ago. I have taken about 7 deer in the last 3 years with it. All of the deer have been inside of 350 yards, so I haven't really had the opportunity to utilize the range finding recticle much. |
