I recently acquired my first "custom" knife, I guess you could call it. I have never been very adept at sharpening regular old EDC knives. Was wondering if there were any online video tutorials on knife sharpening in general. Also wondering if there are any special methods used for this particular steel.

The knife is a Steve Woods 'Hide fighter. The blade is "Blasted Stainless S30V Steel ".

I didnt do a ton of research prior to buying this knife. I had seen good reviews around on it, and the seller was donating a portion to Wounded Warriors when I made the purchase, so I decided to impulse buy. Seems like an awesome knife. What is the general consensus on this knife and S30V?

S30V is a great steel for a knife blade.  A very good guide to sharpening by Joe Talmadge can be found   Here

If you are not up to practicing on stones free hand, there are systems out there that will help you obtain a very sharp edge.
The Edgepro is one of the best, but I would only recommend that if you are going to sharpen a number of knives often.
A good simple to use sharping system is the Spyderco Sharpmaker.  Also order the diamond stones for it to set the correct bevel angle the first time you sharpen a knife.  With todays harder modern steels, it will take you all day with the standard strone that come with the sharpmaker.  Once you get you knife sharp, the Sharpmaker is easy to touch up and maintain that sharp edge.  The key is not letting your knife get too dull before sharpening it again.  And no mater what you use to sharpen your knife, make sure you raise a burr the entire length of the edge in the initial stage of sharpening.  This is the only way to end up with a nice finished sharp edge.
