Hello,
I have reloaded approx 20+ yrs & have never encountered this. The only diff is that i have a new reloading press. The hornady lnl 5stg ap. i have a rem 700 308 that i have approx 900 ALL handloaded rounds through it & im using some same rifle fired brass. Ive trimmed, inside & outside neck trimmed & used multiple brands of dies, lee, rcbs fl & rcbs X sb dies. I still have problems chambering a few brass at times now. The rifle is spotless inside & out so thats out. Ive made sure my die is down where it needs to be. Im sure ive done more i just cant think of it. Ive done a search & found others thats had this issue but no prevail. It cant be the dies because ive used them all these years on the exact rifle. Same brass same rifle. I neck size only but i figured it may have needed a fl sizing but that didnt fix it.

You need to buy a case gauge to figure out what's going on.

Are you using the same SHELL HOLDER?  Many times I've used a different shell holder that was slightly taller or shorter and produced the same problems you have at present.  Check it out.

I guess i shouldve been clearer. I used to have a lee loadmaster & i sometimes used my grandpas lee 1000. All of which worked fine. But now this lnl aint. So yes im using a different SHELLHOLDER. But if i call them & mention i may need another plate, i would bet i will be on a waiting list. My cheaper crap worked better lol!!

Thanks 4 the link ill check it out.

I saw that part, how does that work? Ive never needed one before. Honest question, not being a smart mouth.

Well, i went to my lee 1000 & screwed down the die enough so i could reallly lay the pressure to it. It worked. Im going to try that with the lnl. Ill let yall know when i get done.

Well stupididly as it sounds, i didnt have the die set far enough down. I feel like a reloading newb!! I set it to where i had just a slight tention to the shell as i locked it into place in the rifle. Lord willin, i may have found a sweet spot for my rifle. At times i would get 3 shots one hole @ 100yds then get a 1/2" group which i consider a flyer& unacceptible. Im picky i know but i knew it was somthing minor i was doing wrong in my RL process. I LOVE THIS HOBBY!!!!

Good to here you got it figured out. It seems the shell plate thickness on the progressive presses can be an issue at times. A lot of folks on here use progressives and many of them also use headspace gages to set up their size dies.

Like you, I have never had an issue on my single stage press.
