Alright I want to get a really good pair of shooting & tactical gloves.

I've found these:

Wiley-X

These seem to be pretty sweet if they are what they say they are.

Question is, what size do I need?  Would they sell these things at cabelas or any place I can try them on?

Is there anything better out there than these?

Go to Lowe's and try a pair of Mechanix. They're (relatively) inexpensive and come in pretty much any color combo you can think of.

Have you checked Tractor Supply Co. lol? Thats a LOT for gloves. Do they do anything else than make your hands tacticool ?

Those oakley ones are pretty sweet too.

to me, $75 is the same as $100 as long as I get the best for me.

I see the oakleys are different material, breathable etc.  But are they cutproof like the Wiley's are?

Are these two pairs of gloves the same as far as sizing is concerned as these Mechanix gloves from lowes?  (If so, I'll go to lowes to try a pair on to see what size fits me best and just order one of these offline)

I'm running a pair of the Wiley-X CAG-1 gloves out here in Iraq, before that I had a pair of the Oakleys.  I liked the Oakleys better, but they are both nice gloves (Oakleys were issued, I bought the Wiley-X on base).  The Oakleys had a little better stitching, but the Wiley-X seem to have a little more durable material.

Anyways, one thing to consider with the gloves that have the hard knuckles... it's difficult to retrieve items from pockets when wearing those gloves because the knuckles stick out when your hands are flattened.

Hmm.  thats a hard choice.  You say the stiching is really better on the oakleys, but the material on the Wileys is more durable... so I would assume the stiching is more durable... but maybe you just couldnt tell because of the different materials/

I dont know which way to go.  They both look like great gloves, but the oakleys material seems like a fish net compared to the wileys and I dont know how that would fair over all.

I guess we'll have to wait for some more info.

Or you could but a $15 pair of Mechanix and then take $25 and support the site by becoming a team member.

Then you can do a search for 'gloves' because we've had 40 posts on them in the past couple of years.

Yeah I'm going to join at some point really soon.  Honstly I've tried a few other websites and nothing even compares to this one.

There are so many stupid "cliques" on other websites that if youre new and asking questions and not part of this clique, you get reamed.  Seems like theres more tough guys and assholes on the smaller boards.  Which is funny because that was their whole purpose of spinning off this one... too many tough guy assholes.  I've only been welcomed with warm regards and information here.

And I've only really been getting into this website over the last couple of weeks.  So the more I am becoming familar with this website, the more I like it.  I'll be joining probably over the next couple of weeks.

There is no way a $15 pair of mechanix gloves can compare to a $75 or even $100 pair of these other two.

The mechanix are comfortable I'm sure, but the Wiley's are gauntlets.  Like real ones.  Its kind of crazy if you think of the technology they've used.

I'm probably leaning towards the Wileys, I really like how they are cut proof.

But how durable is that plastic knuckle guard, is unbreakable for the post part?

Can I scope out Mechanix gloves at lowes to fit myself for the right size for the Wiley's?  Are their sizes the same?

I have a couple pairs of the standard mechanix as well as >$100 southwest motorsports/camelbak.  I would recomend the newer mechanix in the tactcool colors.

Why gloves to begin with?  Unless you are a "shooter" why?

"you get what you pay for" isn't always true.

After four months of hard shooting and normal work use, the Oakley Factory Pilots suck infected donkey cock.

No less than four different major sewing blow-outs for one pair.  The synthetic pseudo-leather material is slick when wet and doesn't lend to good fine motor movement.

There were typical holes in expected spots, like the thumb for your safety and the middle finger for the trigger guard, wedding band, etc. but the sewing is what really nailed the coffin on my assessment.

I've reverted to the SWMS Impact CT.

Hmm.  Oakelys are out then.

Wiley is still taking the lead.

I did find these though by the company you suggested:

SWMS Magnum Force - but thats clearly not an american site.

So which would be better, those or the Wileys?

It's not all that crazy, I have several pairs of old motorcycle gloves with similar features.

What are you planning on using these gloves for?

My favorite here, I go a size small to keep the fingertips tight because most other gloves I try the fingers are too long.  The webbing between fingers ends up almost half way between the knuckles and the first finger joints, but my gloves dont get stuck when manipulating magazines.
