Been buying a lot of blades since the panic buying of guns, and still looking for more. So I'm thinking of a short sword now, for no other reason than its cool and, well, zombies. Something that would not get used a lot, I have a Junglas and that is my big, practical blade.

So I've found the Swamp Rat Rodent Rucki for around $300, and the Busse ones are much higher in cost and are out of my range. Don't want a Japanese style Samurai short sword. Love the aesthetics of the Rodent Rucki (blade width, straight blade, coated metal, handle) Are there other manufacturers out there that make a quality style that is comparable? And dare I ask, cheaper?

I am somewhat a student of the Blade.

IMHO there is not a better Long  Blade than a "Samari" sword, ie. a Katana.

Its main advantage, besides its very good blade shape, is the fact that it can be weilded with two hands.

It takes a LOT of training to be able to fight with a long blade with one hand.

It is much quicker to be trained with basic long blade skills if you can use two hands.

Remember I said BASIC long blade skills.

The best blade shape from 5" to say 13 " is the Bowie style blade, again IMHO.

Everyone in this thread loves working with Ben. Next year, one of his customs is going to be a graduation present to myself. He even makes his own micarta.

Ben of Fallen Oak Forge is great to work with, and the Banshee he made for me is awesome.  It sounds like it will cost more than you want to spend, but I figured buy once, cry once.

That first blade is awesome.
I have a John Gage Gladius and I have only good things to say about it.
