So, I have about 500 trouble free rounds through the base pistol without the Roni. On two separate shooting sessions, with the Roni, The gun locked up, round not completely chambering but stuck just short of battery at around 5 mags through. I expected the pistol to be filthy on the exterior as per factory demos and advice.
I did not expect that the fouling would make it's way to the chamber. This appears to be what's happening and at about the 75 round mark, enough fowling has built up to prevent a round from going into battery. In each case, removing the pistol, clearing the chamber and a quick brushing was sufficient to restore function. The ammo is my reloads, PC cast lead over Unique. I know this is a dirty round, but never a problem in this pistol, or my Sigs. The issue seems to be the Roni trapping gases that are coming back into the chamber. Ideas?
Now the good. Accuracy is certainly better out to 50 yards than just the pistol. Inside 20 yards, my naked pistol groups are similar, but certainly not as fast. Out to 30 yards I'm pretty much stacking rounds on top of each other with the Roni, one ragged hole. Also, in each case of malfunction and required cleaning, it is happening beyond the point where I would have exhausted my carry load out. So while not ideal, not really a detriment either.
My only current solution is to take a bore snake to the range and do a pull through every 4 mags. Any other ideas.
