Anybody have a Rex mg7 k (or similar) direct thread onto a rattler? I’m debating between keeping the short rail and throwing on a fat one to cover the can

I’m pretty sure I had the canebrake rail over top too but went back to the short rail so I can shoot unsuppressed if I need to |

What’s up gents, so I’ve been on the lookout for an MCX virtus or Rattler. Obviously it’s harder than ever to find one in stock. Sig has the Rattler URG in stock, so my question is there any advantage to buying the full MCX or just getting the URG? Also considering I already have an SBR’d colt lower I could put the rattler upper on. But I also like the idea of maybe waiting and getting the whole MCX.

|
All you would need to make your colt lower compatible is a AR lower adapter and mcx compatible trigger. If I’m not mistaken the rattler upper comes with these, or at least they used to. That would probably be the best route considering you already have a SBR lower. Only downside would be if you were dead set on having a full factory gun. Otherwise they will function the same. Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. Did clarify what I wanted to know! |

Been tempted by the rattler urg to drop onto my sbr’d virtus lower.
But I have a .308 bolt gun sitting without optics and I dont own thermal yet so heres hoping they’re still available in a year after I knock out higher priority purchases. |

Which do you prefer in that setup and why? Any reason in particular you chose the inconel versions over the titanium?
I don't really like FDE that much but that is one hell of a nice rifle. Does anyone have a picture of something similar to the above, but with a rattler 5.5" and the canebrake handguard? Speaking of which, does anyone have the length on the canebrake handguard? Thank you. |

Originally Posted By bChau: Between those two setups, I'd lean towards the SLH762-QD setup since it's a nice balance of suppression and overall length. My decision is also predicated on the fact that I have a Rattler as well, so I don't need another shorty setup. The SLH762C-QD and SLH762-QD belong to work and we picked those to match some of our mil customers, but I have an SLX762C-QD and SLH300Ti-QD. The SLX762C-QD lives on my Rattler at the moment. This is how my 6.75" FDE MCX is currently set up with a 12.0" SD handguard and an SLH300Ti-QD. I previously ran an SRD762Ti on it, which is pretty close to the SLH300Ti-QD as far as sound suppression goes, but was more gassy than the SLH300Ti-QD. https://i.imgur.com/pK6otAL.jpg?1 View Quote Is the SLH line gassy or that much more gassy than the slx? i like weight of the TI slh but I am trying to get cans with less blow back going forward |
|
|
Going by the sig video, the difference appears to be the SLX vents 70-80% of the gasses forward and the SLH vents 50% of the gasses forward
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeKv0SNe_5w There also is an ANR video that shows the SLH vs the SRD, but at least gives you an idea of what sig means by 50% https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3vg8oxTFPQ |

Bought the caliber exchange it on your info. Sig CS eventually got back to me and said it does indeed come with the F03 port.

Few odds and ends from there for lights/lasers/etc and I should be done collecting stuff for my mcx. Hopeful the F01 on the 6.75” runs well, but if not a F03 gas block will be added to the list. Planning on running it with 6.75” barrel and can under nods at the twilight pawnee run and gun in October. Thanks for the compliments, all |

Looking good. Question since you have multiple setups. How’s the return to zero when swapping barrels/optics? I have two separate uppers, one I n each caliber, because I was convinced that having two separate uppers/zeroed optics is still the way to go even with the modularity aspect of the platform.

View Quote One of my plans this fall when I have time is to test that: take all 4 barrels and a torque wrench and cycle through at the range to see how well it rtz if proper spec’d torque is used. Havent noticed big shifts, but havent specifically tested for it yet either. The 16” 5.56 and 9” 300blk barrels are new additions, I’ve only ever shot the 11.5” and 6.75” barrels. |

So I recently got a 6.75” barrel exchange kit, came with the two different gas plugs. Was surprised to learn I needed to use the newer one with bigger ports for all my suppressors.
If I was to take the smaller gas key, and put a dab of JB weld in the ports, would this turn the gun into a single shot? Or would this be harmful to the gun in some way? |

Looks like Proven Outfitters got in a big shipment. I ordered a 6.75" barrel.

A buddy ordered one from Osage via APP and it wasn’t chrome lined as advertised. Report back when you get it if you don’t mind and let me know if the one from Proven is. I’d be interested in one for myself if it is.

What's the general consensus on the MCX as of July 2022? I know it's expensive and very hard to find, but if I were to find the 11.5 Virtus and buy it, would it be reliable and durable enough to make it my go-to? I live in wooded areas and already have dedicated long-range bolt guns so I don't have a "need" for a longer barrel AR platform, and I've always wanted the MCX. With decent use, I'd like it to last a long time, if not outlive me so I can pass it down to my son when he gets older.
