| Recently purchased a Sig 522 classic. It came with a hooded front sight and a Williams rear sight. It is very accurate but my problem is that this rifle is shooting low and I am out of adjustment on the rear sight. Its adjusted all the way up as far as it could possibly go without falling off. Anyone have the same issue? |

Yep, same problem for me, I have no idea what they were thinking when they sent these things out. I have installed a primary arms red dot sight on the rifle, but I cannot find an iron sight solution. I tried a Troy Micro sight set, but it looks like that will require modification also, maybe filing down the height of the front sight post. The lack of a factory OEM set of iron sights that really work for a 16" barreled 522, in my opinion, is a black mark on Sig Sauer's reputation.

While trying to find a better rear sight I stumbled upon MFI MAD sights.
http://mfiap.com/i-8355570-mfi-sig-mad-front-rear-sight-set.html I wonder if the rear sight will work with the hooded front that came with the rifle. It's $50 for the rear or $95 for the set. |
| They now come with sights but they are almost worthless. I believe they included sights due to the new cheap "gas block", unlike the older models which had a 556 block. The sights were not install, you have to do it yourself which is a pain because the front sight was out of spec and very hard to get it into the slot. Some filing or modification are required. Even after that the rear sight was too low. Should of bought a S&W .22. I wonder if filing the front sight post will solve the problem. Never had to go through so much BS trying to put sights on a firearm. |

I just didn't even bother with sights on the 522. I had a Milett DMS 1-4x in and ADM mount lying around the gun room that I slapped on it. Makes it a nice little trainer for my 556 that has a 1-4x Accupoint on it. Since the 522 is pretty much just a fun gun/tactical trainer, I wasn't worried about it having back up sights. |
| I kind of like haveing Irons on mine. Great way to teach kids or others how to use them. Plus its kind of fun for pinking. Helps keep it a light weight rifle. I agree with the fact that sig realy droped the ball in the sight dept. I have went though 3 sets of sights. Till I got these. They work. Picked up the front for $50 off the EE and the rear new in bag for $30. |
| I bought the Troy micro hk type sights after the factory sig/itac/Williams/whatever sights could not be adjusted as the OP described. They are not a solution out of the package, I gonna try to file the front sight post down. This is ridiculous and expensive. It is unconscionable on Sig Sauer's part. |
| Hi you need a rear sight with a lot of Elevation adj. Like the Macteck sight. Goes up about 600yards. Plus you might have to screw down the front sight a bit more. Most rear Buis like the Troy, MI , Or Magpull type only have wind age adjustments. Not elevation adj. I tried several Sights till I hit this combo. Spent more on sights than the darn gun. Started with a Sig front sight off a 556. Very poorly made. And a rear sight bye LPA no longer made. Kind of worked. Then went to a Sig dioptic rear sight. Same problem not enough elevation. Spent over $150 for it. Then a Aurora sight. Finally The MAGTECK rear sight and a little filing. Hope that helps. Good luck. |
