I saw at the austin gun show 2 sig 556 in 5.56. They are piston driven actions that accept ar mags. Looked good and handled good. Seemed well made. Only two things I did not like was the shoulder stock(m4 extendable) and the price(2 grand) I don't know how they shoot but for 2 grand I'll stick with my ar for 600 bucks and buy ammo with the left over dollars. |

I got to shoot on the other weekend. It shot well, nice rifle. I think I'll stick to the AR-15 platform though, just too many options there. ETA They guy said it was rated to shoot 10k rounds before cleaning. Also, if it does start jamming, there is a variable pressure knob at the front of the handguard. You can just turn up the pressure to get it working again. |
I'm pretty sure the original 551 isn't either. Does it matter for the SIG design? |

2k is way to expensive. You can get them on gunbroker.com for 1200-1400 and you won't have to pay taxes. Here is a buy it now one for 1300: www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=73268531 I have some pictures of my Sig 556 here: new.photos.yahoo.com/asvfs/album/576460762399688481 You will love the gun |
I keep hearing that one is in the works, then that SIG has no plans for a folder..........maybe something definite soon, otherwise the plans JoshNC was talking about sounds like a good alternative

Holy Hell-that looks nice Wulf! I'm digging the mag and optics set up.

Thank you

Hey MJohn, FWIW, I saw a post from another guy using the Ace set up and he had it where you could take off that lock ring and it still works fine only it eliminates the gap and sits more flush with the receiver. I bet that would work for your set up. The folding mech. just screwed right into the AR plug. Here is his setup:![]() |
