Ok, so I have several barrels that were cut down by previous owners, one for a Mossberg, one for an 1100, and one for an 870. At short distances or even middle distances, point and shoot and lack of a bead is not a big deal, but if I want to add a bead, what are my options? I know I can drill and tap, there are also the clip/clamp on sleeves, but those all seem to use an existing bead or rib to attach to. So just drill and tap? Or leave them alone? |

Are the barrels 'bare" or vent rib? I used "clamp on" (secured with screws) High Vis "turkey sights" on a cut down vent rib and have been very pleased. Bigger_Hammer

Here's one tip I learned. If you are cutting down a ribbed barrel, first mark you location BEFORE cutting the length off. Some of these tools like this one won't if there's only a short length left forward of the bead spot. In other words, if you cut your barrel down and want the bead 1/4" back or 3/8" back from the muzzle, the tool will not have enough room to locate on. https://www.brownells.com/tools-cleaning/gun-tools/gun-sight-tools/walker-rib-center-finder/ |

| I just picked up my first with an RDS and I have a turknelli with a rail, these are usable without a sight bead, just deciding if it’s worth the work and effort to put something on. |
