A 10/22 is just a (very popular) semi-auto .22 rifle made by Ruger.

Yeah, "10" is just part of the model number (it may refer to the 10 round mag or something, not sure).

They're great little rifles. More companies make after-market parts and accessories for them than any other .22 ever made. They're extremely "customizable".

I bought my first one in 1968 (trying to beat the GCA of '68 - I had it sent to my house in ... Chicago ).

A 10/22 is only 10-22% complete.  After you spend 4-5 times the intial cost of the rifle on after market upgrades you'll have a complete rifle.
