| Will an action shot with gun kote air dry enough over night to be transported(ie. driven) to an oven? Being difficult I know but remember, simple question looking for simple answers. Basically 700p is too big for home oven. |
| I should think so, I have done quite a few Gun Kote projects that I could not bake off for a few days. They felt quite dry to the touch, and I think that if handled carefully you should have no problem. I would wrap it lightly in kraft paper, and place it in the vehicle in such a matter that no other objects could bump into it and mar the surface. |

It dries almost instantly, and can be handled. But it will be delecte. I would put it in a box with a soft towel to sit on.
If your piece is small enough a toaster oven works great. Check out the local goodwill salvation army and garage sales. I got mine for $2. I use it for just about everything (other than barrels). I reall like the fact that it has a timer and will shut off by itself. |
| I second the toaster oven, I use one to preheat small parts and you can do entire pistols in one. Mine is a yard sale find, has a timer and heats as low as 140. I find that preheating the parts really helps alot to get a nice even finish. By letting the parts preheat for half an hour or so, you can really heat soak them, and the gun kote when sprayed on in thin mist coats, flash dries instantly. |

Most people make fun of me for using a toaster oven to re-finish guns. Glad to see there are others out there doing the same thing.
Mine sees quite a bit of use. Baking Gun-Kote, and heating/pre-heating parts among other things. You can also use them to heat treat cast bullets. |
