I've now got a TROY Ind. single point sling. Hurray for me! So, ...how do you use this darned thing? I've got it attached to the carbine just behind and above the grip via an Uncle Mike's (very thin) swivel. How do I wear the big loop (I'm right handed)? I was putting my left arm and head through the loop so carbine hangs on the lower left side. This leaves right side free to access pistol. What are the two "pull tabs" for? How should it be adjusted? How long should the big loop be? How long should the straight section be? How do you move (walk or run) with this thing unless you have the carbine in your hands? It seems to point the muzzle straight down which seems like you're asking for barrel/muzzle damage. |

Troy Sling Instructions Military Moron's page with Troy sling I saw Troy's instructions and threw them out the window. I wear mine like you have yours, hanging to the support side. I tucked that adjustment tab into the should pad to keep it out of the way. I keep mine loose enough to do cross-shoulder transitions. You pretty much need to have a hand on the weapon if you want to run, or get a belt-mounted weapon catch to hold it. Just how I roll, hope it helps... -Randy |

I read the instructions this morning after playing with it last night. I will work with it again tonight. I had figured most of it out. I'm going to play with how tightly the main loop is around my torso. It seems smaller would be better up to the point where mobility is restricted. I guess one major problem is that my carbine is really muzzle heavy with the varmint barrel that's on it. I need a lighter barrel, though it will still swing like a pendulum. Who makes a really good sling swivel that can screw into the ACE ARFX or an M93A stock? Everything I see looks so spindly and in this case, they have to carry 100% of the weight of the rifle (usually two or three share the load). |

I've got the Magpul sling loop "eye" for my M93A that is attached to the Troy sling HK-style hook. Works really well for me. Also, you might not want the sling so tight that you can't shoot it from your weak shoulder if needed... if that kind of option is something that you may need sometime. If you don't need this, then maybe the tighter the better to keep the free movement of the rifle down. -Randy |

Being able to shoot from both sides is essential. I'm working with it as I type this. I have the main loop reasonably tight around my torso. I like it that way - more secure support of the carbine's weight. I have plenty of length in the short strap (which joins carbine to sling) to shoot from either side. If you grab the pull tab on the short strap, you can throw the carbine to the right rear (slightly behind the hip). Then you can grab the fore arm and haul ass. The sling controls the rear. Your hand stabilizes the front of the carbine. What would be really cool is if this carbine had a carry handle built into the top right over the center of gravity so you could grab that rather than the forearm when it's time to move out. |
