I want to set up an 870 with an ambidextrous single point setup. What are some options? I looked at GG&G and Daniel Defense sling adapters but they are for either left or right handed shooters not both. Does anybody make an ambidextrous adapter? Other routes I could take?

I just make a loop of para cord around the stock, pull one end through the other, and clip my single point to that nub sticking out. The sling clip combined with the weight of the weapon keep the loop tight. It works really well, as it can swivel around the whole grip section if necessary. Crappy 30 second MS Paint job, but you get the idea.  Make the loop just barely big enough to pull through itself, and the loop won't move when you don't want it to, but is still loose enough that it will be able to slide to either the right or left sides of the stock. |
Thank you for the kind words. By the way, you can install two of those on the same shotgun for an ambidextrous application. I just went into the Gun Room to try this out, and the right-side hook loop hangs down in front of the safety button. It's probably something you could get used to (not hard to slip your finger in to activate the safety), but feels a bit different at first. Not ideal, but it would work. $40 total investment. |
