I have a few hundred of these oddballs; mostly those that I've sorted out of my large primered brass. I'd just assume load them up, but I'd rather not consume components working up a load for a cartridge I've already done a bunch of workup on.
Is load data for large-primer 45 Auto cases compatible with small-primer cases? note: if this were a high pressure rifle or magnum pistol cartridge, then I wouldn't think twice about 'starting over' when switching brass. However, 45 Auto is far from a high pressure cartridge... |

As everyone else has said, interchange the loads, as long as they're not max loads. Then you may want to back down just a bit.
I compared the 2 over a chrono, and there was a bit of difference. I believe the LP had a bit more velocity (out of a 16" barrel) , but I don't have the data in front of me. |

Agreed, on the full-boogie loads being carefully developed with non-interchangeable/ very specific components, and using jacketed projectiles.
I'll be loading the small primer cases just for paper punching, middle-of-the-road pressures with plated bullets. My plated loads more closely resemble cast data, so once again: thanks guys, I'll proceed with comfort and confidence :) |

Here's what you do. Lay them out on a concrete slab. Let the Sun heat them for a few minutes while you go back into the garage to look for your hand-sledge. Go back out to the cases and smash the living crap out of every one of them. Then, either throw them out or take them to the scrap yard.
Those little bastards must be eliminated. They are an environmental hazard. |

Send them all to me. I'd like to have 5-10 thousand. Using small primer 45 I wouldn't have to change the primer system on my Dillon 650. 45 is the only caliber I load that uses large primer. Me too, I would love to have more. I would only have to buy SPPs then too I have some, but not enough to switch completely over. |
