I talked to S&W today about my M&P "SPEC OPS" threaded barrel problem in mating to my Evo 9. The guy said we have a note about the issue(Multi Mount and Tundra fits and Evo 9 doesn't) and I should go out and buy another can. Basically, thanks for the call, we know the issue but we will do nothing to fix "your problem". I will never buy another S&W product in my life now. I was really pissed off when he said sorry anything else I can do. Thats what I get for buying American made product? Should have bought a Sig or HK. |
Do you have a technical issue that you would like to discuss? How is it that the Tundra and Multimount work, but the EVO doesn't? Did S&W explain that? Can you verify that the Tundra and Multimount do work or not? What exactly is your problem in "mating" the EVO 9 to the S&W custom shop pistol? This is a technical forum so please explain the problem... |
| It's my understanding that the S&W has a shoulder behind the threads. Neither the Evo nor the Trident have a booster shaft that will index on the muzzle as designed, as they are longer than both the Tundra and the Multimount. S&W have told several people that they worked with Gemtech on the threading so I would imagine they were designed with enough relief for their suppressors and no thought was given to any other manufacturers booster shafts. I highly doubt that it was malicious in any way, but other 13.5 LH threaded barrels don't have a shoulder that causes issue with other manufacturers cans. |
Perhaps he could buy a Gemtech piston and it would work? They are interchangable. |
Fixed I would ask for a refund for the S&W pistol - then go get a pistol that works better. They can't seriously expect you to replace a more expensive NFA item to accomodate thier lack of design insight. Couldn't longer relief be added behind the threads to get rid of the shoulder and allow muzzle indexing? |
Very interesting. Greg Latka has a patent on the three lug bayonet coupler with positive stop and AAC's Striker is 100% interchangeable. However, the ASAP is not patented and is a culmination of the B&T and KAC boosters...and while the GT Tundra/Multimount booster is interchangeable it is certainly not the same and has some very distinct changes/improvements. I do not know of a single AAC patent so would you mind sharing with everyone on Arfcom what makes the Gemtech booster, legally or otherwise, a "ripoff"? |
SWR has stated their suppressor won't fit correctly either. It's not just AAC, it's anybody with a booster shaft longer than the Gemtech one. |
After seeing the picture of the barrel, I see that the problem would be VERy easy to correct. However, I think the laughter from Burney is coming from the fact that everyone says Gemtech copied AAC's booster system but the AAC booster won't work where the Gemtech booster shaft will. I was under the impression they were identical. I like the fact they interchange, as it saved me money when I tested the Tundra, I just used the EVO pistons and Triad 3-Lug. |
Technically speaking the mount will not index off the muzzle which is proper with that particular thread pattern. David |
S&W refused to refund the pistol. |

What else would you expect from Shit & Worthless? They don't card if their crap fails in a gun fight. I am living proof, my duty weapon 12 years ago was a Shit & Worthless. It failed me and I nearly was killed, good thing the bad guy only had 17 rounds in his Glock. I used my trusty Remington 870P to end the fight. They tried to charge me repair fees because their gun broke while I wat trying to use it to save my life, NEVER AGAIN will I EVER own a Shit & Worthless. It had 400 rounds fired before that day. I have the letter hanging in my office as a daily reminder of their lack of care or concern for their customers.
