| I have an 870 Express, that has a semi stcky chamber. It's not horrible, but will sometimes stick with cheap ammo. I have polished it with steel wool, and a drill, but have also heard that you can use a cylinder hone, to shoothh more, and remove a hair more, and make it more reliable. Has anybody here done this? If so, I would love to hear about it, or any other reliability fixes for this wide spread problem. Thanks for the input, and Merry Christmas |

If you've already polished the chamber with steel wool and it's clean and shiny, you don't need to do anything more to the chamber.
If the gun's extraction is still sticky, buy better shells. The budget and bulk shells, especially the Winchester Walmart bulk shells are notorious for extraction problems. Remington chambers are correctly sized, and shotgun chambers are not like rifle or pistol chambers. Due to the soft shells, over-sizing the chamber doesn't do anything useful and can cause problems where there aren't any. So, keep the chamber clean and shoot it, don't ruin it by polishing out metal that won't do anything good. About the only other changes you can make are to replace the carrier dog (lifter) spring with a Police spring, and if you have a standard 4 shot magazine install a stronger Police model 4 shot magazine spring. Replace the extractor with a Wingmaster or Police extractor if you have an Express or Tactical model gun. |

Some oft that info is complete crap! The comment about the "metal trigger assy" being more durable is garbage. The pot metal trigger fears is inferior to the polymer model, they poly is a bit more "self lubricating" as well |
