| Hey guys, my mom is FINALLY coming around to the idea of firearms, and is looking for a snake gun. It's in a residential area with houses about 50 yards behind and to the sides, so I suggested .22 shot shells. The sound isn't a worry, just power (which is why I'm not just getting her a Judge and some rounds of .410 birshot). So I was wondering if anyone's used the CCI shotshells on snakes, and how close they should be? It'll either be out of one of my rifle's or a revolver. Thanks fellas |
| I've tried the CCI shot out of pistols and rifles. Out of the short barreled pistols, the shotshells didn't perform that well on snakes or anything else. I had to be really close to cause any noticeable damage. Out of a rifle (my daughter's Cricket), the performance was much different. The shot shell really did what they were supposed to on snakes and opposums around my house. For 22lr shotshells, I recommend a small single shot rifle. Just my 0.02. YMMV. |
