| how about a thread with pics/descriptions/discussion on snow camo? |

Huracane? Isnt that just alittle glorified rain with some wind?
Ok. From someone who actually has hunted in snow, unlike you wimps down south, no offense. I like the tree bark with white background camo. Seems to bend in well. Otherwise regular tree bark camo works good. Your looking at pretty bare trees so greens would stand out. Also remember that with the leaves down youll have nothing to break up your silouette other that the branches and your camo. You will stand out quite a bit standing infront of a bush. As opposed to a stand of trees. Ive found it easier to stalk game in more open areas during winter then I would in early fall. Bass Pro Sportmans Guide |

I have spent hundreds of dollars and countless man hours to make this snow camo pattern work. What do you think? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/Stalker61/IMG_0001-1.jpg i actually laughed quite a bit over that. |

Huracane? Isnt that just alittle glorified rain with some wind? Hurricane is nothing. It's you damn yankee snow birds that move down here that freak out when we get a little storm. Same can be said about you southerns up here when we get a little snow. |

Here's some of mine, I'll try to post again when we get some more snow. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t173/Eroc1911/snowday1006.jpg It's Swedish winter jacket that I picked up for $7 dollars at the surplus store. I wear my LBE underneath. It's not great, but it gets the job done. Some nice winter pics: http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t173/Eroc1911/nhnutc003.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t173/Eroc1911/snowday1007.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t173/Eroc1911/snowday1011.jpg Maine Rocks ![]() before I saw your user info I thought "damn, that looks a LOT like Maine!"
Maine does rock. Couldn't agree more. Straight white over coat or parka is all you need. |

Heres a pic of Marines in snow MARPAT.
Snow MARPAT The below thread brings up a good point. With all white your gonna stand out in the woods. With all brown your gonna stand out in the snow. A white parka to take off and put on may be a good compromise if your moving around. For hunting in the woods during December Ive had no problem with plan old Mossy Oak tree stand. French Snow Camo |

From my experience anything dark will contrast HUGE when moving through a snowy white backdrop. That said, if the backdrop is spotted (ie brown tree trunks, grey rocks, green conifers, etc) a large blocky pattern of white and dark would be best.
Basically one needs to break up the silhouette. More so than non-winter conditions. I keep trying to find a photo of Natural Gear Snow Camo and Predator Snow Camo for a comparison. Outside of a plain white parka or cover up, I'd choose either of those. That Snow Marpat ain't bad. Not sure I'm all about the Frenchies and their green spots though. Neat thread. |

Hey can I buy a B.A.D.. Oh wrong thread. USMC has always been pretty up on good concealment. |

German Army got it right with their reversible Gebirgsjager Mount Troops Snow Suit. Good pattern and widely available both new and surplus on the internet for cheap.
Problem is that it's not as water repellent as it should be IMHO, but the pattern is good. The MARPAT Snow Suit is probably the best I've seen, but unavailable for purchase. I understand the Finish have good snow white snow suits. Underarmor makes a pretty cool white ski mask. |

I don't think multicam works that well in snow... at least around here. I'll take pics in the morning |

I don't think multicam works that well in snow... at least around here. in part, you are correct. what I was kinda getting at is unless you live at the north pole , having 'snow camo' seam's pointless, at least IMHO, as there is not that much snow, for very long, to make it worth the effort.

All said and done, I think your standard camo is plenty adequate, with a stark white parka or bedsheet even...to cover you up in the event you KNOW you'll be spending an extended amount of time outside in the snow.
In snow, seems you'll be seen regardless of what you wear. Nevermind your footprints and / or tracks. Being stationary and white is the best cover in snowy conditions. Predator camo, snow marpat, natural gear, real tree, etc that have patterns will still give you away the minute you move against a background with such stark contrasts. I'm not expert, but that seems like an obvious and safe assumption. |

I have set of surplus German snow camo...the one with the pine needle splotches on it. It is reversable so you can just have plain white as well. Works great and was cheap for both the coat and pants with suspenders. That's pretty neat, I'll have to look into it. Could be great for muzzleloading season. |

It is cloth but allows you to drape it over equipment or don and doff quickly versus having the coat and trousers. |
