Was looking at Manticore's Instagram and they're posting teaser shots of something new. " />Then this was posted today... I have been talking to Desert Tech about the Ripley Rail since SHOT 2024 and was aware of the round counter for the Quattro back then, well before it was made public. It hasn't shown up in the marketing yet, but we have an in house piston driven Quattro lower build with Ripley Rail that is a sight to behold. We are running it with a KAK double chrome lined heavy 10.3" barrel: https://kakindustry.com/govt-contract-clone-ar-15-barrel-5-56-nato-10-3/ I doubt the IAR heat sink would fit, nor is there a source of them I aware of, but there doesn't need to be...we can just design a finned aluminum heat sink ourselves that works with the forend and whatever barrel profile we want.  I had not even considered doing a heat sink, but man, with the heavy barrel, piston system, and a heat sink and 53 round quad mags on tap, that would be the ultimate overwhelming firepower setup, wouldn't it? P.S. I am swamped with getting the overview and installation/sighting in videos done right now, but when I get a chance I will post up pics of the various builds we have in house for showing what you can do with the Ripley Rail. Alright, my friend Nick decided to go wild testing the Ripley Rail on a bunch of guns, so we can steer this thread into actual bullpup territory! We are going to be expanding the Ripley Rail line, and I think these two concepts might have legs. AUG is weirdly awesome and straightforward. Really the only question is do we go with mounting on the picatinny top rail, or do it as a dedicated carry handle that bolts direct to the receiver. With the X95, it gets a little more complicated with blending into the front if the gun and getting the charging handle to work. I am actually thinking we can do a modified version of our Cantilever Forend where the top rail is a dedicated carry handke that bolts direct to the top rail barrel mount points, the cantilever forend portion is the forend, and we make a slightly modified version of the “pump” foregrip to fit the cantilever forend. If I was buying one them, I'd prefer direct bolt on replacement rails if at all possible. With the AUG though, it might look a little odd since the front of the gun is so narrow and the rail is so boxy, at least compared to the Tavor or AR. Did he try the a Keltec at all? I cant remember (I assume hes the one that loaded his IG up with fitment tests). Also, I see Novox Research used a Ripley Rail to build and integral 9mm AR. Pretty slick. Spent the last two days working a couple of different approaches to an X95 version. Got one I thought was good, then mocked it up on the gun on the computer and...not so good. Took a second crack at it, and better, but still not where I want it.  Finally got a crazy idea of conceptually hybridizing two existing components together and that just might be the ticket.  Going to finish up the files and do a quickie 3D print to verify the looks and fitment. I don't usually discuss what I am working on, but after two false starts (from an aesthetic standpoint- functionally they will both work on the gun) this one seems to be heading in a positive direction and wanted to share that I am actively working to get more cool stuff out for the bullpup boys. I’m thinking of making use of my Osprey 45, and tuck it like the pic above. -Cheap lower using endo 9mm mags. -Paint the lower ‘mount black on the ripley rail. -AR Upper no FA, painted green, front half of AR lower painted green. -mlok portion of rail painted black. -use a HBPDW brace or HB stock in black. - green removable mag well. - green mags -249 style PG FRT the thing. I think it would look pretty good. |
