After a bunch of debate and thinking things over I ordered a CZ 452. While I was ordering it a dang 527 American in .223 came home with me . It has the single set trigger and its pretty awesome. I topped it off with a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10x40 Compact scope. Anyhow this is the rimfire forum and don't want to be blabbering on about a centerfire!! However now I am debating on getting a 453 in the rimfire instead as it has the single set trigger. It's also a 150 dollars more...I know I can get a spring kit for the 452 and make it good but something about that set trigger is calling me to get it...What's you guys take on that? Also, is the barrel length the same on the 452 and 3? I believe it's 22.5 inches for both but wanted to verity.

Don't bother with paying the extra money on the set trigger 453. Trust me, I know this. Get a 452 and a YoDave trigger kit for $10 and you will be extremely pleased. Much more information is to be found over at rimfirecentral.com in the CZ forum than you can shake a stick at.

Do you have contact info for the ordering the YoDave kit? I also could order a trigger from rifle basix and still come out cheaper than a 453.

YoDave is a fellow that hangs out over at rimfirecentral, you can contact him there. I think he has the kits up on ebay too. If memory serves, installation of the Basix kit has it's pitfalls. You will find more help & info here:

Good Choice!

I think the UltraLux model is the one with the really long barrel.  I'm not huge on single-set triggers, and hear that the previously mentioned trigger kit is the best choice for the money, so I'd personally be inclined that way over the single-set trig

I have two 452's, the American and the Lux. I have a scope on the American, and use iron sights on the Lux.

It kind of puzzles me that people talk about improving the trigger on the 452, because on both of mine, it is just basically
perfect as it came from the factory. The pull is very smooth, and it breaks without any noticable hiccup. Compared to
a Ruger 10/22, there's really no comparison. I have a couple of 10/22's that I put the VQ target hammer into, and they
have a nice light trigger now, but I don't think they compare to the factory CZ trigger. I wouldn't actually want it any lighter
and don't see how it could be smoother.

Same here, I have the 452  Style and the 452 American, and they both have excellent triggers right out of the box. Absolutely zero creep. I did try one of the trigger kits by Yodave, but I literally could not improve on the trigger. Even the thinnest wall tube in the kit shortened the trigger too much
and the trigger was unsafe, so I just ended up using just the lighter spring and it is great. I love these things!!

I'm getting the 452 for sure. It will be here next Tuesday. I plan on trying the trigger as is and if I don't like it then I will put lighter springs in it. I'm debating on a scope now. I was going to get a 2-7x33 Bushnell Elite but might get a 3-10x40 Elite Compact instead. This is going be a hunting gun and I plan on carrying it alot and don't need a huge scope or alot of magnification. Just something nice and simple. I adjusted the trigger on the 527 American .223 I got and mounted the scope, but didn't shoot it yet. I had to take the mag apart and take some material off the sides of the follower. It was binding inside the mag box when inserted into the rifle's magwell and didn't allow proper feeding. The follower couldn't move at all with 5 rounds in the mag.

Folks.....Heads-up

Get your CZ-452 now!  It is being discontinued in favor of a "better" design.  While I want to remain optimistic, the existing gun is pretty damn good and don't see much room for improvement.  Based on past experience, newer may not be "better" from our point of view.  This warning should be especially true if you are considering one of the less-numerous 452/453 models such as the Ultralux, silohette, Full Stock, or Varmits.

Personally I am on a madman manhunt for a 452FS (mannlicher style full stock).

improve it? i dont know how..

FYI.. my 452 american out shoots my dad's 453 Varmint.. I put the Brooks trigger kit in.. best $15 I ever spent. (i think yodave's kit is just as good and his customer service is better)

You are gonna love that rifle...

congrats on the purchase, my first cz rifle the 452 fs, no single set trigger but basically learned more on how to control and shoot the stock trigger which is challenging and rewarding when you get hits at 50 yards inside a dime, but i do have the 527 varmint kevlar in .223 and the single set trigger breaks like glass=sweet, what ever your choice you will enjoy your cz guranteed  make sure ya post some pics

Yeah, I have to say I'm not optimistic about this "improvement" at all. I bought my first CZ seven or eight years ago, and ever since I've been expecting that some day they would go the way of all the others, increase prices and decrease quality. I hope this isn't the beginning of that time for CZ.

It will be replaced by CZ 455 come January next year.  I ordered one this morning, CZ 452 American.  Shop wanted $ 419 OTD.  I had to trade a Ruger Mark III to financed this.  Check out CZ forum at rimfirecentral.com, they have tons of info.  I warn you though, if we have BRD here they have Czechitis there.
