I already two AR's, AK, RPK, PSL, CETME.... 10/22 M1 Garand and Carbine... and an SKS.  I think I got them all.

So, Obama is likely going to win.   What do I want to buy?  I was thinking about a couple... three AR lowers, but kind of at a loss as to what to get rifle wise.   I was thinking a FN2000 or a .50BMG, but I don't really want to spend that much.

Well, if they decide to come in and take all of our guns from us (which they eventually will), my best advice would be to not buy any more guns. Instead, sell all of them while you can, buy a plane ticket, and move to another country.

other than that, I would say get a FAL

i hope you don't think obama will win because they said so on tv or in a newspaper. as you can tell by reading any gun related ''story''  they lie! he always gets less votes than they claim he will in pre-vote polls.

obama will do to this country what hitler did to his

and just out of curiosity why would we discharge our weapons in the air  like a bunch of hadji's???  sorry i wont be joining in on that, i think im going to be prepping my ammo for long term storage and investing in a dillon reloading press

and to answer wolverines question , id go for the 50BMG and or a saiga-12 and a couple of the MD20 drums and a few AGP 10rnd mags

No pistols? Shotguns?  If not, get a full size semi-auto, compact semi-auto or snubby for CCW.  If already covered, have minimum of 10 mags per rifle and get ammo.

If there wasn't a granfather clause, there would be riots in the streets.  Miliions of Americans would become criminals overnight.  Many of us have tens of thousands of dollars invested in our hobby, and wouldn' just "turn 'em in."  Knowing how many firearms are privately owned, it would be stupid/dangerous on the government's part to attempt to "collect" the contraband.  Some people bury mason jars full of money for "economic hard times".  Others will hide or bury "other stuff" for when they need it...

If only to own them for a short time, I'd get a Fal, a real Galil, MSAR/AUG, or Valmet M76.

I watched the Australian semi-auto ban via the internet back in 1995.  They were offering something like $1500 for a Mini-14 back then.

Yup, theywont go door-to-door they'll just do what they did in the UK and go after the larger collection owners first and then after you if they ever suspect you.  I believe early this year there was a raid on a man's home in the UK who was in his late 60's who had a rather large collection he never turned in.

You can bury them if you want, but what good does it do ya then? If ya got to bury them it's probably time to start using them.

They have to have a grandfather clause, otherwise it is an ex post facto law and is unconstitutional. They didnt put that in the 1st AWB because they wanted to... I would be more concerned with making sure he doesnt win rather than debating what to do if he does..just cause Matt Lauer says its so doesnt make it so..

Which proposal is this?  Last recent two I saw both had grandfather clauses.

thomas.loc.gov/

Search for H.R. 6257 ... real Nasty piece of work this one..

Search for H.R. 1022 .. not nearly as bad but unacceptable.

I think it highly unlikely that the next/new ban will NOT have a grandfather clause, in that I think it would violate the concept of ex post facto .  But who knows?

if they ban guns .....  my god , the violence in the country would be so bad.  The only reason it is not bad at the moment is that the criminals do not want to get shot.  It will be open game season is they take weapons away from us.

In England, people say they are robbed 3-4 times a year in their own fricken home.  Shoot somebody in your home for self defense is murder in that country.

It would only be an ex post facto law if they made it illegal to own a particular gun before the law was passed.

The Lautenberg Amendment is instructive on this point.  Congress made it illegal for certain persons to have guns in 1996.  Those persons could not have guns after that date, even if they had them beforehand.  All of the ex post facto challenges to the law failed.  What Congress could not have done was make it illegal in 1996 for those persons to have guns in 1995.

If no other reason, experience has to count.

Subject: Are we all aboard the USS Ship of Fools???

The first time I read this quote, I thought it was dangerously true. Then I really started pondering it and thought how would this apply to our own lives/careers?   Let's look at it again to see how absurd it is.
You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't  become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.
You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience.
You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.
BUT....
'From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate.
That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days?

We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start.

AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public seems to feel comfortable with this and campaigning for him.

We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are OK with this for the President of the   United States of America ?

Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol !!
