Is it C&R and who sells them?

Yes, they should be C&R. Your best bet is here on the EE or GunBroker.

Yes They are C&R, and they are hard to come by cheap.  It is on my short list, but I have no funds right now, baby is due in April.

I saw one at the local Cabelas a year back for about $300, but I didn't know what it was.  Next day it was gone.

Gunbroker may be your best bet. I have only seen about 3 in the last couple of years at the shows. I got very lucky and found a cherry FR8 at a local shop for $300. Keep your eyes open and be ready to jump on one when it shows up.

I found this one in a local gun shop earlier this year labeled as an Enfield with a price tag of $150. It also came with one of the Harris bipod copies that Walmart sells for $45.

Here's what it looked like when I brought it home.

And now after I removed the sling stud and filled the hole, stripped all the old finish off, sanded lightly, one coat of walnut stain, and then a few coats of semi-gloss Minwax spray poly.

I have never seen one with the bayonet mounted. Anyone care to post a pic with a mounted bayonet?

Thanks, now I know, I thought the tube under the barrel contained a spike bayonet.  What is the purpose of the tube under the barrel?

It held cleaning supplies, IIRC.

The original purpose, or what it is used for?

Originally it's part of the gas system for a CETME rifle, but it's used for a cleaning kit on the FR8.

An FR8 is a the mating of a Cetme barrel to a Mauser action and stock.

I can't put a bayonet on mine anymore.
I replaced the flash suppressor with one from AAC that is a mount for my AAC 762SD suppressor.
The flash suppressor threads are the same as HK. It screws right on. The FR8 with a suppressor is really cool IMO.

What gas system, the CETME is a roller delayed action.

It looks just like all the pictures posted only with a suppressor on the end.

I have been looking for one for two years.

I have only seen one in Western Washington, it was at a fun show marked as a FP8, it had been sanded to death and then painted with some crappy clear coat gloss.
The finish on the metal was pretty well worn off and the best part?

The guy wanted $400 for it.

I get fairly good results with them out to 100 yards ( never had a chance to run them farther out ) 4 inch groups with POF surplus. That would do whatever "job" they were put up to, but I just shoot for fun. The second one I bought had a cig and a few waterproof matches in the faux gas tube.
