| I found a FR8 today and the dealer is asking $225. Is this a fair price? It is in very good shape with a good bore. |

That sounds like a decent price to me. Those seem to command a premium price over other milsurp bolt rifles. Let me know if you find a front sight adjustment tool. Mine shoots way high. A friend of mine is in the process of modifying a socket as a sight adjustment tool but who knows if he will ever actually do it. I am going to add a QD suppressor mount to mine for an AAC 762SD suppressor to mine. The stock flash hider seems to be the same thread as an HK G3. |
Yes, if it is really an FR-8, and not an FR-7. The FR-8 had a Mauser '98 action, and a straight-handled bolt. The FR-7 had an earlier, weaker action, and a bent bolt handle. It is OK to shoot milsurp in the FR-8, but not so in the FR-7. Go to a Mauser site, and learn up on the differences between the Mauser '98 action and bolt VS. earlier Mausers. Make a list, and inspect your prospective Carbine carefully. Bayonets and scabbards are still around. H+K slings will work. Tapco used to have front sight adj tool, and IIRC Numrich offers them as CETME items. Rear sights (and front, for that matter) are basically CETME units. |
Tapco makes/sells one. You can get it from them. AlsoMidway has one in stock. It's a little cheaper there if you qualify for dealer discount with a C&R. |
