I have the chance to buy one of these for $900 dollars. I am not very familiar with the company. Whats the good, the bad and the ugly about the weapon? It's serial # is under 100 does that make a difference? Anyone own one? Thanks for the help. |

With such a low serial number, it is a cast receiver. That isn't necessarily a problem, but certain HK accessories/parts won't fit without some modification (like a collapsible stock w/the AW sets). Some of the earlier SW's had some problems reported. People either sent the guns back to SW, or had a HKsmith fix them. I own a later stamped model SW5 and love it. But at 900, as long as your FFL fee is low, you could turn around and sell it for a small profit to someone wanting to make a 5/40 or 5/10 or something similar. -k |

| Mine is the .45-PDW and is also a cast receiver. I have had no issues with it being cast but as some said, the sliding stock will not fit without modification, but since mine has the fixed folder, when the AWB goes away a 75 cent spring turns it into a folder. I don't need or want the telescoping stock. Scope mounts fit the same with no mods needed so except for the telescoping stock, there is no real difference. The stamped receiver is smoother looking while the cast receiver will have some machining marks left. I cannot tell which yours is from the picture. Mine has been 100% reliable, and except for some accuracy problems which SW fixed with a new barrel (had nothing to do with the receiver being cast or stamped) I have had no problems whatsoever. I have about 2000 rounds through it and so far, I am quite pleased with it. |

Yup...the one pictured is cast. I have had 2 cast receivered SW guns and they are good. They will actually out live the stamped one with sustained full auto (I'm told this, I don't have the experience) For $900, I would buy it If I were you....I wouldn't sell my SW5 for $900, I know that. Here's mine.
