I'm debating between the two for my first suppressor. Has anyone received their Omega yet to confirm the sound reduction levels?
I pIan to use the suppressor on a bolt 308 and 5.56 AR. Is the Specwar a good choice or am i better off rolling the dice and hoping that an Omega is as quiet? |
| I've got the Specwar in hand and the Omega on order. For your dual purposes, I would prefer the Omega for two reasons. One: It is almost half the weight of the Specwar and that will matter on the 308 bolt action. Two: The Omega comes with a thread adapter so you can go thread on for the bolt gun, and save the cost of MB or FH. |
| My 308 will primarily be a bench gun so I'm not worried about the weight. The Omega is roughly $200 more and I'm not sold on the sound reduction capabilities. For $200, i can pick up a couple of spare mounts for the Specwar. Was hoping someone might have their Omega by now for comparison |

The only downside to a specwar is the weight. That's it. It leads in almost every other category. And length. The main reason why I won't own one. I will suggest the Omega. Shooting any supersonic round especially your .308 through either omega or specwar is still going to be loud. |

I'm loving the idea of the Omega as well, but with no real world testing or reviews yet, I can't quite suggest it. I'm hoping to handle mine tomorrow, no shooting, just in the store visit. |

| I handled one and can say its a fat can. Its wider than my Saker. I think its going to be a great can but SilencerCo's claims are BS because of the way it was tested. IMO it will sound very much like a Saker 762 but in no way it will be as quiet as a Specwar. But I'm not all about having the most quiet can out there. |

And that's my intent with this can, a lightweight direct thread hunting can, by no means do i think it will replace my Sakers, I see it as a Harvester 2 or Harvester K. But I think I'll take my Saker762 along and compare the differences. I'll let you know what I think. |
