These are range pickups and not from anything of mine, but does anybody have a clue what would cause this? Not sure if reloads or not.

From my experience either the cases are just worn out, the chamber is slightly oversized, or both.

I have 45 ACP brass from the 70's that has been reloaded many, many times. Eventually they split.

I have seen an old S&W M&P 38 Special revolver that had a a lot of wear and it would split the cases (yet did seem to align the chambers perfectly with the bore).

Most likely from age I still have a bunch of Remington 45acp hollow point defense ammo from early to late '80s, that are already splitting while just sitting in the box. I think, it's from the excessive crimp they put at the base of the bullet to prevent setback. I shot a couple of the already split cased rounds out of my Glock 36 just for the heck of it, and they shot fine, I wouldn't do that again though
