Mine was stupid stiff when I picked it up. Now it's pretty good. Quick jerk deploys it. I find putting my strong side thumb on the hinge pin and pulling the stock up unlocks it for closing.

Like others have said, it's a really good brace for shooting. When I found a Kuna in stock, I was a little disappointed in not being able to get the one without the brace as I knew I was going to Form 1 it. After shooting it, I'm happy with it as another option to run it as a pistol when transporting an SBR isn't practical.

Whenever demand dies down enough, I'm going to snag a braceless First Line model to keep in pistol only configuration and use the Strike brace with that.

Got a Croatian stock finally and I really dig this Haga defense handguard paired with my Huxwrx 9kti

Probably one of my favorite guns to shoot now.

Today shot 7 fully loaded magazines of a combination of 124 hst, 115 gold dot, and 147 gold dots and it had zero misfeeds

Still haven’t decided on a stock yet. The SI brace is comfortable enough that I’m not in a rush.

Switched to an Acro footprint optic so I could use the Reptilia low mount.

I don't have a Kuna but I want an SD PCC.

Do you think a ported 'SD' integrally suppressed barrel and hand guard could be developed?

I think Novox Research has mentioned they are looking at it.  One of the issues is that the Kuna has a monolithic upper, so the first 4” of barrel are covered by a somewhat narrow handguard section.  I have a CZ Scorpion that I converted to a SD.

Question for you Kuna/Nexus lower owners.

Any issues when inserting a full magazine on a closed bolt and racking the charging handle to chamber a round?

Read somewhere that you should treat it like an MP5 with bolt open, then rack or hit the bolt catch to chamber a fresh round.

Maybe this was addressed with the Gen2 version?

My wish is for a drop in Frt/SS that utilizes the factory lower as I really like the controls and mags.

I emailed AS Designs about a drop in and their response was no but promised an production update soon on their Kuna lower.

Great lil' platform.

considering one with the nexus lower and an FRT.  That combo makes it very appealing - thoughts?

That's not really a good deal. SA has them in stock for that and shipping is free over $50. No BS shipping protection fee, good customer service, and you can use SAVE10 for 10% off. They shorted me one mag in a batch of 10, and had the missing mag sent out with no questions asked in a couple days.

Not quite as soft as the mp5, much softer then the scorpion.

it's my pic of the 3. Don't see spending the money on an mp5 but since you already have multiples of that platform it's honestly a toss up on if you want one or not.
For me, I just didn't want a scorpion and didn't want to spend HK money

I also have access to all 3, With 2 variants of the MP5.  I agree with the above, but wanted to add,  that both the Kuna and Scorpion do have up to date controls, like last round bolt hold open and bolt release.  Still If I could only have one, it would be the MP5.

I have those, plus the Stribog.  For recoil, the MP5s are the best, but for features, price, and tuning ability, I think the Stribog beats them all.

Significantly smoother than the Scorpion, not quite as soft and smooth as the MP5 but to me the ergonomics more than make up for it. The Kuna also feeds flat nose bullets without drama.

I'm sitting at about 1k rounds through mine, mostly suppressed. I've ran 115gr Magtech, 115gr Federal XM9001 (Hi Shok bullet), 115gr Winchester SG9W, 124gr Magtech, 124gr Winchester 9mm Nato, 124gr Federal HST, 147gr Winchester FMJ, and 147gr Federal HST through it without a hiccup. Recoil and cycling speed doesn't really seem to change with the higher pressure XM9001 and SG9W.

For those curious on how to torque the muzzle device, I used a padded vice and clamped the receiver at the barrel trunion with the barrel pointed up. That held it tight enough for me to put 20 ft lbs on the muzzle device.

Whats stopping you from buying a braced model and taking the brace off?  Sell the brace and even if you lose a little money on the deal, a marginally more expensive Kuna in the hand now is way better than struggling to get one after VA's gun laws go into effect.

The difference between the MSRPs is $151.  Like I posted, you can take the brace off and recoup some of that. Even if you couldn't, would it be better to spend an extra $100-150 dollars now to have the gun today, or wait 90 days trying to save $150 until Virginia's draconian new gun laws make it an incredible pain in the ass to get one with or without a brace?

But enough about that, the real question is when will the .40  S&W SKUs start to ship?

Then you both are in good company.

The fact that the Kuna was designed as a .40 notwithstanding, I think .40 is an ideal cartridge for a PCC/PDW like the Kuna. Maybe as soon as they're able to fulfill the Brazilian contract we'll start seeing the SKUs, but as of now, it looks like every Kuna in either caliber isn't gathering any dust on anyone's shelves.

The reason it made sense to me was that 180gr which is one of the main loadings for Target and defense and it’s naturally subsonic out of normal pistol length barrels. I won’t get into 40 vs 9 performance but 180gr 40 bonded bullets seem to do really well across a ton of mediums.

I'd probably buy the .40 version as well. I kind of like the .40 though.

Taking a wild ass guess, but it would not surprise me if the only difference between the 9mm and .40 versions are the bolt, barrel, and magazines.

I am a member of that .40 club too.

I’ve got stock notifications setup across the gun-web for whenever they might start appearing.  I suspect the success of the 9mm has most of HSP’s production focused on making those since they’re still selling every one they make.  We’re victims of their success!

I’m curious as to how many changes the original gun needs to be sold here. I assume it’s pretty easy with them having already converted it to 9mm and making it semi.

The ATF is going to be looking for compatibility with the original full auto parts when they do their tech review before approving imports.

MKE at this point seems to be the lowest bar, their MP5 clones just have that blocking bar welded into the receiver to prevent a FA carrier from dropping in.

We’d need a FA Kuna parts kit to be sure, but the absence of a blocking bar or the like tells me there’s probably a dimensional difference more like the USC/UMP where the USC has a ledge molded into the receiver to prevent the FA UMP bolt carrier from dropping in.  You can mill the UMP down to fit the USC receiver just fine but it satisfies the ATF.

I’d guess they did something like that, tweaked the receiver mold, made the SA bolt carrier a little smaller on one dimension.  Pretty simple, keeps most of the other parts compatibility there to simplify production and prevents FA stuff from getting mixed up with SA units.

Received my Haga/Skye handguard and got it mounted. It's a fantastic product and I highly recommend it.

That said, need a solution to push a X300 turbo out a little more, but they only mount via 1913 slots. Anyone know of a m-lok solution to put a few slots in front of the handguard? Would rather not have to purchase a small scout light.
