I went with this setup for now. Adapter from Haga Defense and stock from Magpul. I bought the stock from Brownells as they charged $70 whereas Haga is asking $110. Attached File |

I also picked up one of the A3 stocks (bought from Haga) as an alternative thin, lightweight option. I have several pic rail stock guns, so both will find a home. Attached File |

It does fold to the right; I should have the adapter today and I can test it with the Zhukov stock from my Scorpion. I am interested in the new Magpul stock as well; pretty cool that the hinge is reversible. |

Both the Kuna and Stribog were designed as military weapons first, and military customers don’t seem to be bothered by proprietary mags. Yes, a number of guns accept STANG 5.56 mags, but that’s because it’s a NATO standard. There is no similar official standard for SMG mags that’s accepted by a number of countries. Also, the CZ Scorpion mags themselves aren’t the greatest, especially the first gen translucent mags. The “good” Scorpion mags are the PSA AK-V mags. Finally, maybe Croatia and the Czech Republic don’t get along and HS Produkt would rather die than use a CZ mag. |

This was my thought as well. And to my eye, the Kuna mags seem a bit sturdier. You’d REALLY have to love Scorp mags for that. I guess another possibility is you often go out with BOTH Kuna and Scorpion and want to bring only 1 type of magazine? Seems a rare use case but time will tell. I could see that scorp lower for Stribog because for years they had mag reliability issues. But the Kuna doesn’t seem to have any mag issues to “solve”. Sturdy, reliable and cheap. Perhaps they’ll start making Kuna lowers for the Stribog

If so, this is a lot of ergonomic steps backwards for the sake of using a different magazine. ETA - Got around to filing my F1 finally. Mostly just in anticipation of the factory folder stock someday. The thing is so handy with the brace and a mag well grip that it may be the ONLY SBR project gun I’ve done where the base gun was perfectly usable without any compromises beforehand. |

Here is a run down on stock options I have tried. Sig Minimalist Plus. https://www.sigsauer.com/mcx-mpx-minimalist-plus-locking-folding-stock-minimalist-black.html (Available cheaper elsewhere, like Europtic). Attached File Attached File Decent fit, felt a little short. A3 Triangle Stock. https://hagadefense.com/triangle-stock/ Attached File Attached File Good fit, good length. Lightweight and easy to operate. Hole near the hinge is for the sling QD which I have not installed yet. |

Haga Defense Adapter with Magpul Zhukov stock. https://hagadefense.com/zhukov-stock-with-1913-adapter/ Attached File Attached File Good fit, and length is adjustable. Locks up tight and is solid. It is the thickest option. When folded, it covers the ejection port. While I like the triangle stock, the Z stock feels more solid and balanced. I need to shoot with the various options. |

They really had a perfect storm on their hands with it. It's a renaissance of sorts in the PCC world right now, so interest levels are high. It uses something other than direct blowback, which is intriguing for many. Springfield is a name many consumers have heard before, even if they don't know the relationship with HS Produkt. While it doesn't use a magazine already piled up in the basement, the OEM magazine was very fairly priced at $25. Finally, the gun itself could be had under $900-1000 if you opted for the stockless version. That's a hugely attractive spot to land in. Lots of ingredients for success at the start. The Kuna itself ended up being a quality gun, even with its quirks. It helped it was made for a mil/LE application overseas (for a non-Euro customer especially, so the price can't be set too high) so a lot of the product development and testing was performed under those auspices with an eye towards commercial sales afterwards. Finally, a very well-executed marketing campaign coupled with the launch. This wasn't a bullshit Magpul announce it and wait 6-12 months thing, it got teased at IWA, then basically launched full-steam on the US market a month or two later with good initial availability and glowing reviews. There's a lot to be said for how Springfield approached it and it was refreshing. It seems like all the launch gun and mag supply have dried up but I'm sure HS Produkt is making them as fast as they can. I've gotten spanked for memes in the tech forums, but it's basically Frito from Idiocracy saying "I like money" as they build the next batches. They may have underestimated how successful it was going to be. I am curious to see if the next wave includes the .40 version since we have so many product numbers for that, a split of both, or something else. HSP is also unlikely to make any changes given previous examples with the VHS-2 only getting a minor ergonomic tweak to the safety and the Echelon essentially being unchanged since launch. Maybe new polymer colors 6 months from now? |
