| I have a buddy wanting to sell a Springfield Armory M1A National Match SN1399XX. Its sharp with near perfect wood, a crappy scope with A.R.M.S. mount. Only has 1-10 round mag. Hes asking $1400. Is it worth it? Im not an M1 guy at all but if its worth it I might buy it just to help him out financial. Thanks for any advise. |

Now Im confused. How do I tell if it is actually a "national match" rifle? Looks like a simple M1A to me. Call Springfield and give them the serial number. They will be able to tell you what it was when it left the factory. Many with barrels marked NM were just "Loaded" models. |
| The other items the NM will have is a unitized gas cylinder and glass bedding. Also a tapered NM flash hider and a NM stamped front sight. But as you already said, anyone can add these items. Glass bedding would be the most difficult to do. Even so if the gun was a loaded that may not be a bad price. Not sure if the NM had the two lug receivers or only the supermatch. Ask Springfield... |

Thanks for the advise guys. After Calling springfield armory about the gun I learned it is a loaded MA9226. Now I have to figure out what its really worth. A new Loaded is about $1500+ in my neck of the woods. Given the lower serial number (which would suggest the possibility of GI parts, but you would have to confirm that) and the ARMS mount, I think $1400 is a good deal. |

I got a loaded with Stainless barrel last year for $1200. The guy needed cash. I would say anything under $1200 would be ok, but there better be at least 4 or 5 mags and 100 rounds of ammo. |
